The past week felt like I've in limbo.

Valen and Mr. Schiavon left on a trip to Italy, so I was left with Coda, Carlo, and Amir. I spent most of my time training with Amir. I even learned how to spin the knife, though he still laughs when I do it.

Dante has spent the entire week cleaning up after the murder. The guy had connections none of us could've known about.

My anxiety kept me focused on my situation with Valen. I keep thinking he is with another girl. I've been side by side with him since we met, and he hasn't gotten any action.

Today is my first time going to the Italian warehouse because Amir needs to double check the inventory. We drive down an alley to the docks. This place seems too perfect for drug deals. The space is open, but there is no sight of it to the neighboring streets. He parks the car facing the bay. When I get out, I can smell every dead fish in the body of water.

He leads me inside the roll up door. There are a few people around, some that I even recognize from their office building. I notice a couple of them are eyeballing me. This one girl in particular is whispering to the guy she is next to.

"You can tag along if you want, but it will be boring." Amir says.

The scan of the room I make is no help, because all I see is more people looking at me. I turn around to tell Amir I'm coming with him, but he is already gone.

I feel like it is the first day of school. Having to walk around awkwardly while the groups of friends talk about me behind my back. I make the executive decision that the gross bay smell is better than this situation, so I get my jacket back on and head out.

The water around here is boring. It is such a casual shade of blue. I remember going to Spain one summer, where the water there was the prettiest color I had ever seen. It was clear enough to see the fish that would usually surprise you.

I don't have much to look at on my phone. The boats passing by and the sounds of the water are my entertainment. I even try to see how much air I can see leaving my nostrils in this cold weather.

A little while later, I hear some footsteps behind me.

I turn around to see this guy walking towards me. My freezing face becomes warm with sweat.

As he gets closer, I can see his face better. He has surprisingly beautiful dark skin. His black dreads are tied back in a messy bun. He has a scruffy beard similar to Valen's, and I think he is almost as tall as him too.

He comes and leans onto the car next to me. I guess he can sense my concern.

"We don't bite ya know." He chuckles.

I stay quiet because I can't think of a word to say to him.

"Now how'd you meet a dude like Amir?"

I can't think of a story.

"I don't know." I say.

"Prolly not the best idea for you to be around here..." He says.

Does this guy think I'm stupid? I may be a small white girl, but he doesn't know my background.

"What's your name?"

"Mileva." I answer.

I see his eyebrows hitch.

"Shitt, You're the bitch runnin the Serbs!?" He exclaims.

"Don't call me a bitch." I respond.

"Sorry."

He sounds genuine.

"Who did you think I was?"

"I thought you were Amir's girl or sumn."
