I was so tired after the pain last night that I slept until 1 p.m. When we got home I ran up to the shower and finally washed his lingering touch off of me. I was exhausted to the point that I fell asleep in my towel.

I throw on a hoodie and sweats to go downstairs. Amir is making a sandwich in the kitchen. I sit down on a stool at the island across from him.

"Look who's finally up." He says.

I remain quiet. I'm not in a joking mood.

"You want one?"

I look at what he's making the sandwich with. He's got turkey, lettuce, tomato, and surprisingly not American cheese.

"Yeah..." I say.

He gives me the first sandwich he made, and turns to the fridge to get me a cup of water. I feel like shit, but this warms my heart. I haven't been cared for like this since my mom died.

After giving me my water, he begins to make another sandwich. I start to eat the one he gave me.

"I'm going to the warehouse in an hour. You should come with me."

I don't really want to go out in public, but lounging around the house would leave me alone with my thoughts.

"Okay." I tell him.

He finishes his own sandwich and leans onto the island. He is never very talkative with me, even as we have gotten closer. He is an observer, so he is probably looking at my dark eyes and pale lips. I didn't bother with my hair before coming down here either.

I look down at my water cup trying to not feel so awkward. It isn't his fault, but I was already picking myself apart in my head.

I hear Amir sigh and walk to my side of the island. I look up at him, and he holds his arms out for a hug. I reluctantly start to hug him back and rest my head on his chest. He folds his arms around me.

I was bewildered at first, but of course it is comforting. I can relax in his arms knowing they can protect me. He doesn't like that I'm tormented by yesterday.

"You didn't deserve it Mileva." He says quietly.

I don't say anything back. I just continue the hug.

"Oh and I forgot to tell you..." He says pulling away from me.

"...Last night we looked into who Dan is. He is in human trafficking, specifically young women. The reason we are going to the warehouse is to start the mission to take him down."

"Take him down?" I ask.

"Kill him and free as many women as we can."

I smile. Shit like that is my dream job. My one true passion.

"You're gonna be a key component in all of it. We will explain at the warehouse though."

I nod and take the last bite of my sandwich. "I'll go get ready now then."

"Alright, I guess we can go when you're ready then. Meet at the elevator because Valen is already there."

I nod again and go back upstairs.

I strip off my hoodie to put on something nicer, but then I am reminded of why I wore it. Dan decided to give me a few hickies on my neck and shoulders. At the base of my neck there's a red scratch from the knife.

I decide to wear the same hoodie and a tight black tank top tucked into some tan cargo pants. I do some light makeup, but I skip foundation. It would look awful caked onto these dark circles.
