Valen and I are having a meeting with the other allies today at Javier's offices here in the city. It feels so strange to be considered the same level as all of the men I'm meeting with. I haven't worked for any of this shit, yet it still gets harder each day. These men have been involved with this all of their lives, so they have to think of me as some innocent girl.
We just stepped onto the elevator of this lavish building. I don't think Javier owns the whole thing, but I know the top floor is for his operations.
Valen and I are standing shoulder to shoulder like professionals. They could be aware of our relationship, but even if they are we shouldn't risk and PDA. We both know what that will do to my reputation.
"Who all should be here?" I ask Valen.
"Everyone you met at that dinner, but Hayes and his father are here I believe."
"So a couple nice people?" I joke.
"Exactly." He smiles back.
"What about your father?"
"I asked Javier not to invite him to this last week... so we will just have to see if he followed through."
