𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 [𝟑]

chapter six.

AFTER GETTING all the paperwork done, Andrea exits the office and sighed as she approached her vehicle. She wasn't planning on staying in Sunnyvale anymore, or even Shadyside to begin with. She didn't feel like either of them were her home anymore.

She just had to get a few things done first, knocking on the front door and waiting. The door opens and it's Susan Porter who opens it for her. "Hey big sis..." She says as she stuffs her hands into her pockets. "Andy..." Susan says, leaning against the door frame with her arms going over her chest and Andrea sighs.

"Can I see Marcus, please?" She says and Susan just stared at her. "I don't know if I should, Andy. What kind of person would be reckless enough to just--" "Mom..." She turned around to see Marcus approaching them. "I wanna talk to her." He simply tells his mother.

She looked at Andy with this look on her face that made the younger feel uncomfortable but then she walked away, letting Marcus walk over to the door. "Hey, you okay?" Andy grabs Marcus' shoulder and the boy simply brought her into a hug, furrowing his brows.

"I know it wouldn't bring him back... but why don't I feel better about it? Ending it all..." He said quietly and she just rubs his back comfortingly as Susan stared at them, drinking her cup of coffee. "Why aren't you at school anyway?" His aunt now asked as she pulled back from their hug and he shrugs.

"My parents insisted it was fine... And my mom's not working until the night shift so she's spending the day with me." He says and then crossed his arms. "I'd actually really like to get away for a bit. Can we go out for breakfast or something?" He asked her.

"Yeah, come on. I'll wait in the car." She smiles and he nods, simply grabbing his jacket. "Mom, I'm going with Andy for breakfast. I'll be back later." Is all he tells her as the woman just sighed softly. "Okay..." She replied back.

During their breakfast, they didn't really talk about it, they mostly caught up after all these years since the argument between Susan and Andrea. When they got back, Marcus was smiling when he walked in so Susan got up, "did Andrea leave yet?" She asked him.

"Uh, no, I don't think so..." He said and she rushed out the door, running over to where her sister was sitting in the car, adjusting a couple of things. Susan knocks on the window making the woman look over at her. "Yeah?" She says when she rolls down the window.

"Can we talk?" Susan asked her sister and the woman got out of the car. "Yeah, what's up?" She asked and Susan sighed. "I'm sorry for how everything was between us... it kept Marcus from you, despite the fact I knew from the beginning you two would be... more connected than me and him will ever be. I won't ever understand what my son goes through or thinks, but you know, you get it." She sighs.

"Everytime Marcus was sad, or angry, you'd be there to bring a smile to his face. And as his mother, I was always jealous... So I'm sorry for the things I said. About you and Nick--" "No... I'm sorry. I-I shouldn't have been with him anyway." She says, shaking her head as she cut off her older sister. "But I had no right telling you who to be with, Andy..." Susan says, sighing softly as she glanced away.

"You loved Ziggy... Marcus loved Simon... you two get each other, you know? And... I shouldn't get in the way of that. You're his aunt. I'm acting like you're stealing my role as his mom." She chuckled softly and Andy just looked down, pursing her lips together.

Andy still remembers the day she announced her engagement to Nick to his family, it was around the time Marcus was ten, it was the year '88 and she was twenty-five, Nick was twenty-six and had just become a police officer.

"You gotta be fucking kidding me..." Is all Susan said, making Adam cover Marcus' ears. The boy didn't react, playing with action figures as Susan and Andy's mom scold her. "Susan, don't say that to her, she's in love!" She smiled widely at Andy who just chuckled.

"Okay, sure, but Nick fucking Goode of all people? Didn't you already move in with him? Now you're gonna marry him... and then what? Have his kids? Andrea, think. Think!" She said, pointing to her head. "Nicholas Goode is a Sunnyvaler and you're a Shadysider at heart. You two don't belong together. All because, what? He was there for you after that night six years ago? Get over it! It's like you think of him as some sort of hero." She said with a grimace on her face at Andrea.

"He's not a hero... besides, at least someone was there for me! All you said was that I shouldn't have went in the first place. Mom let me go because I love archery and she knew that. You didn't." Andrea sighed softly.

"I'm glad to be in his life again, Susie... And yours." She smiles softly and Susan stares at her. "I missed you, baby sis." She says, raising her hand to her sister's shoulder.

"I missed you too..." Andrea said and then put her arms around her sister as Marcus glanced out the window, furrowing his brows together. The two sisters walked in, Susan had offered Andrea some tea and time to catch up. After all these years, they finally got along.

"Oh, my God, mom will be so happy on Thanksgiving when we won't be giving each other death glares anymore." Susan chuckled and Andrea's smile fades. "Yeah... about that," she sat up straight in her seat, sighing.

"I'm leaving actually... Shadyside, Sunnyvale." She tells her and Susan's face becomes puzzled then she glanced away. "Right... after everything with Nicholas." She said quietly and Andrea sighs, looking down. "Yeah." She whispered and Marcus walks into the kitchen. "You're leaving?" He said out loud to Andy.

The woman looked over at her nephew. "Well, yeah, kid..." She says, nodding softly. "I have no one or anything here..." Shs tells him and Marcus furrows his brows, shaking his head. "So you're just gonna leave me? And your sister? And Ziggy?" He said before walking away and Andrea turns to look at Susan.

The woman sighed, glancing down. "Sorry about him... he always talks about you, you know." She says and Andrea feels even worse about having to move away and leave him.

i'm making the last few chapters about andrea's move and more plans that are yet to be revealed about andrea's move :)

+ i didn't sleep all night and i'm tempted to update every last prewritten chapter rn to get this fic out of the way but instead i'm gonna update twice today (once rn, and again later when i update my other fic)
