Chapter 1: Middle School

Year 2000

It was Gloria 's first day in middle school , she was scared and insecure about herself and about what people are gonna say about her Since she just moved to the town while half of them had known each-other for years. It was all her daddy's fault ,he did something bad that ended with her mommy divorcing him . Today was her first day as a forth grader in warriors middle school. Will they like her ? Will she make new friends? Will she fit in? Those were the things that she was think about while she was waiting for the school bus . Lost in her thoughts she didn't realize that a boy about the same age as her was standing next to her waving his hand in front of her face . When she looked at him he said " Hey ! I'm Elliot , and you are ?" . she looked at him weirdly , she didn't expect anybody to talk to her , and not even before she arrives at school . but she decided to answer him , he seemed like a nice person " I'm Gloria  " . He was surprised by the tone of her voice it was soft and calming . " You're new her , aren't you ?" . how did he know ? Oh wait , nobody knows me of course they will think i'm new " Yeah , i'm new , i moved here with my mommy , a couple of weeks ago , that's our house " she said pointing to the house at the end of the street . " Wait ! That means we're neighbors , i live right next door " he said with a small smile . He's so nice , i wanted to know more about him " Do you have friends ?" He asked . "No , i'm not good with people or at making friends " i said with a small shy voice . " How about i help you make some new friends on our way to school in the bus " He said while smiling at her with his white teeth . While talking they didn't realize that the bus had arrived , but when he realized that he held her hand and helped her onto the bus . When they were in the bus , he saw his friends Matt, Sean,Henry , Patrick, Tanner and a girl that he doesn't know sitting in the back of the bus ! he was still holding Gloria 's hand and he walked to the end of the bus " Hey guys ! how was your summer?" they all responded with a fine , okay , amazing , cool ....... "Elliot , who is that ?" Tanner asked him while looking at their hands . " This is my new friend Gloria , Hey Henry who's the girl next to you " asked Elliot while looking at the girl sitting next to Henry . " Oh ! this is my cousin Lana , her dad is spanish , they moved here as a gift for mom and because he got a better job here " said henry smiling . She's half latina then , just like me , thought Gloria , I wanna test her , was all she was thinking about , maybe we could be friends ." Hi , I'm Gloria " i said while she was looking at me . " She's not very good with new people " jumped Henry while saying . Seems like i need to use the latina Language . "Hey, yo sé que es raro hablar con gente nueva y todo eso, pero confía en mí que estamos tan parecidos , me acabo de mudar aquí, y la primera persona que me estaba hablado con Elliot , y como se puede ver que soy parte latina al igual que usted, así que quieres ser amigos? " (transltaion : hey , i know it's weird Talking with new people and all that, but trust me we are so alike , i just moved here , and the first person that i Talked With was Elliot , and as you can see i'm part Latin just like you, so wanna be friends ? . AN: all the translations are from google , i don't know spanish ). she looked at me and smiled , the she said "soy Lana , el primo de Henry , me acabo de mudar aquí como tú y como yo soy parte latina como usted, yo estaría feliz de tener un amigo como tú ." ( Translation : i'm Lana , Henry's cousin , i just moved here like you and i am part latina like you , i would be happy to have a friend like you .)when she said that , i started laughing so did she , but then i saw the boys looking at us weirdly so i said " Debemos empezar a hablar Inglés , porque tengo la sensación de que los chicos no tienen idea de lo que estamos hablando" ( Translation: We should start talking English , because i have a feeling that the guys have no idea what we are talking about ) .she looked at them and giggled , then she said " bien, pero se ven tan divertido" (Translation: okay , but they look so funny) . "Hey everybody ! I'm Lana " Exclaimed lana with a happy smile . " i thought you are not good at making friends " asked henry and Elliot , while Gloria , and lana we're laughing . " it's true but when it comes to Latin people we always talk because the know what we are feeling " replied Lana . the bus pulled in front of the school and they all exited together . " You're my new best friend " said lana to Gloria , While gloria smiled and nodded her head accepting her new friend . " Okay , let's go to class " said Elliot while offering a his hand to Gloria . she gladly took it !  They all headed together to maths class , and they had the nest day ever
