Chapter 22: Fate

No one's POV

Elliot opened his eyes,on his face a look of horror appeared when he saw a paramedic standing above him.
"Son, i don't know how you made it! It's a miracle" said the paramedic.

Elliot looked around anxious, his hole body started to shake" Gloria ?" He asked
The paramedic didn't say anything.

Panic rose in him as he knew something was wrong. He put his eyes right in the paramedic's eyes and screamed at him " where is she? Where is my girlfriend ? Where is Gloria ?"

He heard next to him the sound of a heart monitor stop, but it wasn't his. When he looked next to him, he saw Gloria's hand hanging to the side .

That's when he finally lost it. He started to kick and scream as the other paramedics covered Gloria's body with a sheet. The last thing he saw was Gloria's motionless face before he feel into complete darkness.

He hears the sound of beeping,he tried to move to turn it off but his body wouldn't respond. He tried to open his eye, and when he did he was blinded by the light.

"Please! Somebody turn off the light" he screamed. The light was turned off and his eyes started to adjust to their surroundings. He saw where he was.

He layed in a hospital bed, hooked to machines with his mother standing in front of his bed.

"Oh honey!" She said tears in her eyes. " You've been out for 4 days i almost lost hope". She walked over to him and hugged him tight as if he was going to disappear if she lets go.

"Mom! Why am i here?" He asked "Where is Gloria?"
His mother stayed silent, not saying anything, she just sat in the hospital chair staring at the white floor, ignoring her son's questions.

When Elliot saw that his mother wasn't responding to any of his questions, his heart started to beat fast that it made the machine beep like crazy.

"Mom,what happened ? Is Gloria Okay ?" He asked breathing heavily.
"Honey...i don't think we should talk about it now" his mother said with her face pained.

Half an hour later, two doctors in their mid forties came in. Elliot waited patiently for one of the doctors to talk and he was really getting worried, nobody was answering his questions about Gloria.

"Hello, i am doctor Flynn and this is doctor Lucy, i was the doctor who took care of you while doctor Lucy took care of your girlfriend's mother" he said

"Finally ! Can someone tell me where is my girlfriend ?" Elliot asked. "Don't you wanna know what happened to you ?" Asked Doctor Flynn.

"No! I don't care, the last time i saw my girlfriend, she looked dead!" Screamed Elliot. Silence had taken over the room as Elliot looked around him, he saw that everybody had a sad look on their faces.

"Elliot, doctor Lucy will tell you everything, but are you ready to hear what happened ?" Asked Doctor Flynn.

"Please just tell me ! The faster the better" Elliot begged. "Elliot, you had a broken arm and a couple of broken ribs it's really a miracle considering the car had flipped and landed 100 meters away from it's original place" said Doctor Lucy. "Well,i'm pretty sure you knew that your girlfriend was pregnant"

"Yeah, she told me in the car and we had a fight about it, why ?" Said Elliot "Unfortunately, the baby died" said Doctor Lucy

"Well, what about Gloria ? How is she ? Can i see her? I need to make things right with her, i need to tell her that i love her and other things" Said Elliot

" I think it's a bit too late for that" said Doctor Flynn. "WHAT ? NO NO DON'T TELL ME IT'S WHAT I THINK IT IS " Elliot Yelled, a million thoughts in is head

"Gloria can't come see you anymore, she didn't make it out with a few injuries like you! First, she lost a lot of blood after the hit because of the baby." Lucy continued.

"Second, the truck hit her side which caused the window to break and a big piece of glass which caused a big cut on her arm and that made her loose a lot of blood. Her head was hit which caused a crack in her skull, which caused serious brain damage"

"Third, she had a sprained ankle and a broken shoulder. I am sorry to say that Gloria Swan isn't in this world anymore" said Doctor Lucy

"She's dead ?" Whispered Elliot, tears in his eyes and a big hole in his heart, he was feeling pain, not from his injuries but from his heart and mind that were blaming him.

"I'm sorry" said both doctors before leaving the room. Elliot's tears leaked out of his eyes as he cried with a broken heart already missing his one and only true love, his other half, Gloria.

His mother was crying too ; she had recently just lost her husband, her best friend and now a girl she considered like a daughter to her.

"Please mom, leave me alone"Elliot said to his crying mother as she wipes her tears from her face. "But honey..." she started to protest but he cut her off.

"Please, mom, i'm begging you i need some time alone" his mother nodded leaving the room,leaving a broken Elliot behind

Elliot's heart was breaking into a million pieces, not only did he lose the love of his life, his soul mate,his only hope of a happy life.

But he also lost his child, a child he didn't want, but now he wished that he didn't fight with Gloria, if he didn't they would be now laying in his bed talking about their baby.

You only know the value of what you have until you lose it and that's exactly what happened with Elliot.
