Dakota had discussed the dinner she and Calum had talked about with her parents. Her parents were not too thrilled but they gave in. Dakota fought to have dinner at a restaurant, hoping that being in a public place would keep her parents under control, but her parents said no and demanded it be at their house.

Dakota nervously got ready once she got a text from Calum, telling her he was on his way. She looked through the clothes in her closet for something cute. In her house, it was a rule that you looked nice when guests were over. That meant no leggings or shorts, no t-shirts or sweatshirts.

She finally decided on a simple dress then went and did her hair. By the time she was done, she could hear Calum's Mustang pull up in the driveway.

Dakota ran down the stairs and out to the driveway, wanting to see Calum before her parents.

"You look beautiful" he complimented, pulling Dakota to himself by the hips and pressing a soft kiss to her lips,

"You look pretty good yourself" Dakota smiled as they pulled away observing his look- black jeans, button down shirt, and nice dressy shoes,

"You ready?"

"I guess so" Calum took a deep breath and took hold of Dakota's hand.

They walked inside the house and Dakota pulled him to the kitchen where her parents sat at the island just waiting. When Dakota entered with Calum, her parents both stood,

"I don't think we've properly met" Calum spoke, "I'm Calum"

He held his hand out for her dad to shake, but pulled it back when he never shook it,

"I'm Beckham and this is my wife Eleanor" her dad spoke,

"It's nice to meet you all" Calum nodded. Beckham and Eleanor just hummed,

"Let's eat" Dakota finally spoke to break the awkwardness.

Calum pulled Dakota's chair out for her and let her sit before pushing her in and taking a seat next to her. Beckham took the head of the table while Eleanor sat across from Dakota and Calum.

The food was passed around and everyone started to eat quietly. It was awkward and both Dakota and Calum felt it.

"Calum, what do you do for work?" Beckham spoke up. Calum hummed and swallowed his food before turning to the man,

"I'm a tattoo artist" he spoke, definitely leaving out the part about being and illegal underground boxer,

"You make a living off of that?" Beckham scoffed,

"I do pretty well" Calum nodded as he felt Dakota's hand on his thigh as comfort,

"I don't think a tattoo artist is enough for our daughter"

Calum sucked in a breath,

"Dad stop" Dakota stepped in,

"He's right Dakota. How will he be able to support you on that salary?" her mother spoke like Calum wasn't there,

"Support me? I can take care of myself. I can help support myself and him too" she fought back as Calum's hand found hers,

"With what money and what job?" her father raised an eyebrow,

"You said it yourself I would be running the country club. That's income and good income"

"No you will not because the country club is Drew's"

Dakota's eyes furrowed,

"He hasn't caused issues like you" her father spoke,

"Caused issues?" Calum stepped in, "He drugged your daughter"
