Mellifluous

Pt. 5 - Confessions and Confrontation

All eyes were on them. From the moment they exited Kaeya's house together people started whispering. Some had vicious stares, others were simply intrigued.
    
"Is it true the the Cheif Alchemist and the Calvary Captain are sleeping.
together?"
    
"I saw them at the tavern!"
    
"Figures the Captain would sleep around.'
     
All the rumors just spread and spread like wildfire. Kaeya was sweating, he looked over at Albedo and he looked as though he might puke. In instinct Kaeya pulled Albedo closer, which may have been a poor choice in hindsight, but Albedo just smiled. Had the headquarters door always been this big? Everything seemed to loom over Kaeya and he felt himself slipping away from reality.
    
"Kaeya!"

Albedo was holding his hand and calling out to him.

"Oh...sorry..."
As soon as Kaeya had opened the doors, everybody stopped all they were doing. They headed straight for the Acting Grand Master's office,
      Kaeya avoided any eye contact.
When they opened the door Jean was already standing there, with a look neither of them could read.
     
"Good morning Acting Grand Master Jean." Albedo said, his face pale and cold.
     
"You two have put me in a tight situation." Jean sighed and with a sullen expression. They all stayed quiet for a moment.
     
"I'm sorry Jean. I couldn't help it...I just-" Kaeya was choking on his words. Albedo went to grab his hand.
     
"What I believe he is trying to say is he didn't mean to fall in love with me" Albedo laughed a little.
     
"I feel differently though." Albedo told Jean, but was indirectly ushering Kaeya to listen in as well.
     
"I'm so glad I fell in love with him. He's a truly hardworking and caring person. I'm not exactly able to describe his personality...or the exact details of why I am attracted to him." He paused. Kaeya could feel his face heating.
     
"I am not embarrassed that be is my co-worker, or that he is another man. Love is a universal thing." Albedo looked over to Kaeya and smiled.
     
"Pffft" Kaeya burst out into laugher.

"Wait what-" Albedo lifted one of his eyebrows.
     
"That was so cheesy, my love."
Albedo's face was heating up from both anger and embarrassment.
      
Jean cleared her throat.
"If you think I wanted to yell at you for being co-workers or for both being men you are mistaken." Jean told them. "I-I myself am dating one of out co-workers..." Jean confessed, looking away for a second, but looked back out of duty.
     
"I don't mean to pry, but may I ask who?" Kaeya asked. Albedo hit him in the arm, as to say 'not our business'.

"...Lisa." Jean told them blushing and smiling.
       
Kaeya could just feel the love sickness radiating off of Jean.
"Anyways, you two have done nothing wrong. As long as your work is complete I have no interest in disrupting your love lives."
      
Kaeya smiled, Jean was trying to be professional but she really was happy for them. As they went their separate ways to do work, they felt accepted for the first time.
