'Does she know where she is?' a familiar voice asked, and someone answered, 'there's no way she can.'

I was being dragged on the floor with a hand holding my shirt, all bloodied. The day before, GENESIS had arrested me, and now it seems like I'm going through a metal hallway with technology of some sort on every surface. The people around me started talking again.

'Oh, great. The devil is awake,' said a guy I have never seen before. He was not incredibly tall, but also not so short. His hair was really short and fluffy and he had a cut on his eye which looked like a cross. I lurched forward and grabbed his leg. He jumped and pulled away, looking nervous. The rest laughed. We stopped short at a thick grey door and the person holding me dropped my head on the ground. I stood quickly, adjusting my shirt and looking around. Then I saw something I wasn't meant to. My hands started sweating and my bottom lip trembled. I swallowed my fear and clenched my fists, turning straight into anger. I cried but nothing came out. My inner demon was being held captive inside a heavily bolted cage with people around it, with no experience on how to handle these situations. It saw me and changed expressions quickly. It yelled out and scratched at the bars, but giant spears poked at it. I panicked and ran towards them. I punched and punched, but heeled over when a spear sunk into its black skin. It reached out, claws on my hand.

'Aurora... you'll die,' It said in a rumbly voice, 'Don't let them kill you even more...'.

The people that were dragging me before grabbed my hands and pulled me away past the grey doors. I struggled and cried, but they wouldn't let go.

'LISTEN TO ME!' A voice suddenly yelled. I sat down and they let go of me. It was an empty room with just us five, blocking out the noise from outside rooms. Blond boy sat down and the girl with hoop earrings stared down at me.

'You-' she made an angry noise then exhaled, 'You are OUR responsibility. So you will shut up and listen to us when you have-' She paused then realised what she said. I'm mute. She stomped her foot angrily. The magenta skinned girl sat down next to me and grinned.

'I'm Mira. This angry cactus here is Ria,' she said, pointing at the girl that talks too much, 'this is Adrienne, and those two are practically dating right now'. Adrienne (blond boy) blushed furiously and Ria smirked at him, lifting an eyebrow.

'Oh, and that's Noah, the guy you grabbed before.' Mira said, then flicked her hair. 'Welcome to GENESIS. This is your team now!'

Wow. I had my own team. This was a nice one, except for Noah maybe. He seems arrogant.

Mira made a noise. 'Oh, right, I forgot. There's more people'. My eyebrows shot up. A door opened in the back and three people entered the room. Two very young people walked shyly towards us, but the third one disappeared. I felt a whisper in my ear, and whirled around nervously to see a short girl with blue hair and ears looking straight at me. Her purple eyes made her look crazy, and she whispered, 'I like her'. I was really confused, but I let Mira explain them to me.

'That is Persephone, who isn't too different from you, 'She glanced sideways. I knew what she meant. I pointed at the other two.

'These two are the young ones of the group. Both of them are seven years old. The boy is Mizuki, who's Japanese and the girl is Sasha, from Serbia.'

I can't believe it. I'm not actually going to jail, after all I did. Wait, but how do they know what I did- The PA speaker blasted. It was that same voice which declared I was arrested.

'Alexa Gen here,' she coughed and it vibrated loudly, 'Aurora, our newly recruited team member is to be brought to my attention and straight to my quarters. You'll be of useful help around here'. She finished with a dismissive laugh. This place seemed dismal, especially because of her. Sasha suddenly yelped.

'Aurora! You're bleeding! Here, let me-' She didn't finish, instead went straight to my side and touched my ribs. I winced at the pain.

'Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-' She didn't finish again and instead retreated. I smiled and touched her head, careful to not get blood on her. She was a small sweet thing that deserved to be smiled at. She smiled shyly back at me. I rolled up my shirt to reveal the same wound as my inner demon had when the spear went through it. I also had a cut on my forehead, but nothing to worry about. Sasha looked at me and asked, 'May I heal-' and I nodded. It was mesmerising watching her work. Yellow light fell over my skin and it stitched back together. Her pigtails fell forward and Mizuki brushed them back. He hugged her and she grinned, head bowing. I suddenly felt horrible pain rush through my veins. I screamed and lurched upwards, trying to stand. Sasha watched with worry and bewilderment. My demon was being hurt!

'TELL THEM TO STOP!' I mouthed and groaned again, 'THEY'RE HURTING MY D-' I gasped for breath and gave into the pain, releasing tension. I clasped Mira's hand at the last moment and breathed into her ear: Don't let them take it. My demon. If it dies, I die...

Then I fell unconscious and took my demon with me.

'It's GONE!' Ria shouted, banging her head against the wall. I looked up. Sasha and Mizuki were wrapping bandages around my ribs and hands. I looked up and instantly tried to pull away from them. They let me, and I walked towards Ria, who stared at me with an angered expression.

'Where did you take it?' She asked, jaw clenched, 'YOUR GODDAMN DEMON IS GONE!'. I smiled and looked down. She grabbed my shirt and pulled me against the wall.

'Hey, don't!' Andrienne yelled, trying to take her off of me but she held her ground.

'What's with the smile, huh? You lookin' like a damn idiot smilin' like that! ' She yelled in my ear, her earrings shaking. I got a bit emotional. Frustrated. My hands moved before I could think. Barely a second later, Ria was on the floor with her pockets emptied. I had her knife in my hand. I looked down and threw it away. Walking, I leaned closer towards her and smiled a small smile. With my hands I said, 'Calm down before I get you killed,' then ran my thumb across my throat. She looked no more shaken than she was before. I sighed, throwing myself into a chair. Then I heard a sob as Sasha pulled at my shirt. Her face was reddened with tears streaming down her cheeks. I put on an apologetic look because I really didn't want to see her cry.

'Please... Please don't-' She sobbed even harder, hiccuping, 'I don't want you to hurt people. You can change.' Her mouth didn't close but trembled slightly. It hit me like a rock. She actually thought I could change. It was for the better good, just like she said. I thought I did the good thing, cutting out my tongue, but it just made things worse. My demon was more out of control than ever. If I didn't do something about it, I would actually go to jail this time. Jail... didn't seem like a nice word. Wasn't a nice place either. I snapped out of my trance and put on a grim smile, wiping my face.

'I promise...' I mouthed, and her face lit up so bright I couldn't stand to watch her cry again. I put my chin on her head as she hugged me. The first ever person I've cared about in a long time.
