Memories and Desires

☆ ☆ ☆

Nicolai had consistently seen Fred and George in the halls around Hogwarts throughout his years of attendance. Always gone out of his way to avoid them, in fact.

After all, he was a Slytherin who could sometimes be seen talking to Draco Malfoy. And so, the brunette tried his absolute hardest to stay off of the twins radar, hoping not to become the victim of their next prank.

That was, until the inevitable happened.

It was the day of the Yule ball, an event created as a way to strengthen the bonds between magic schools during the Goblet of Fire tournament.

That year, Harry Potter had somehow found himself in yet another life threatening situation, however, Nicolai couldnt find it in him to care.

It wasnt because he hated the boy, for he did not know Harry well enough to truly like or dislike him. The brunette just had other, more important things to worry about. Like not being able to find a date to the bloody ball.

Now, Nicolai wasn't the most unattractive boy in Slytherin and he was well aware of that fact, however, whilst he would normally have just agreed to go with the first girl who asked him, there was now the rumour of his recently discovered sexuality that had spread through the school like wildfire.

Hence how he had now been forced to go to the event without a date.

Nicolai had asked Kathrine if she would go with him as friends, but the girl had already obtained a date, leaving him on his own.

And so Nicolai quickly situated himself at a random table whilst everyone danced elegantly in front of him. Well almost everyone.

But that's when a certain ginger first caught his eye.

Out in the middle of the dance floor, Fred Weasley weaved in and out of the couples, seemingly in a world of his own if the distasteful expressions on his date's face was anything to go by.

The tall boy's black and white suit fit him almost perfectly, although it was a little short in comparison to his lanky body, and he looked good.

Nicolai couldn't look away.

And he hadn't really looked away since.

"Who are you when nobody's around?" Fred let out a breathy chuckle, which only confused the boy in his arms.

The response Nicolai was given to was most definitely not what the boy had expected, but Fred seemed to be using his own language to answer the question, so Nicolai just went along with it.

"The same person I am around you, I suppose."

Fred's breath visibly caught in his throat when he came to the conclusion of what those words translated to, but before he could reply Nicolai spoke again.

Fred took a deep breath in a naïve attempt to calm down his racing heart, his nerves almost overpowering his ability to communicate.

"I was scared."

"Fred, what- "

"The reason I didn't kiss you. It was because I was scared. Scared that I'll fall for you too quickly and too hard. Scared that you'll eventually realise you deserve someone better than me."

"Fred Weasley, I absolutely adore you. You are more than I could ever ask for."

Nicolai slowly sat up and situated himself in front of the ginger. His feet curled up underneath his butt as he tried to get comfortable on his knees, attempting to match Fred's height.

As he did so, the gingers eyes roamed up and down the boy opposite him, eventually catching Nicolai's own golden brown ones.

Those eyes. The action drew all the oxygen from Fred's lungs; made his insides gooey in pure adoration for the brunette.

Most people Fred knew wore their hearts on their sleeves. But Nicolai hid his heart in his perceptive gaze.

When he was sad or angry, they seemed to almost become the colour of coal moments before the earth turns it into a diamond.

However, at times like this, times when Nicolai was seemingly relaxed and content, that's when they were truly spectacular.

They were like the afternoon sun shining through a glass of whiskey. Deep and velvety, and breath-taking.

Fred slowly inched closer to Nicolai, gently cupping the boy's face and rubbing a soothing motions over a now flushed cheek.

Nicolai's heart was in his throat. The anticipation over what Fred's next move would be consuming his mind, leaving him almost delirious beneath the ginger's soft, loving, touch.

"I want-" Fred stopped, silence consuming the two, making it so quite that Nicolai began to worry that Fred could hear just how badly he affected him.

"Never mind what I want." His voice was quieter now, vulnerable.

"What do you want?"

"You."

'Always you.' Fred almost whined in his head, the urge to kiss the alluring boy in front becoming almost unbearable.

"Then have me. Kiss me, Fred."

"The problem is," Fred replied as he leaned in, "if I kissed you, I don't think I'd be able to stop."

It was Nicolai who, once again, attempted to close the gap between them.

However, this time Fred didn't stop him.
