"We definitely need to have a Valentine's Day party," Clay announced as he sat down. He slammed his book down on the table. "Most of us here are single so we should all be each other's Valentine."
"That would be fun, but where would we do it?" Alex chimed in, before taking a sip of his venti coffee.
"Well, I can't at my house. It's too small," Julia said.
"What about my house?" I blurted out before immediately regretting it. I hadn't had a party in my house before so I wasn't sure if my parents would give me permission.
"YES!" Clay exclaimed, throwing his hands up. At that moment, Hunter got up to leave packing up his backpack, and signed out. Things have been good since we have said I love you to each other but there was something still off. He hasn't been talking much today and I want to ask if there's something wrong but every time I do, he gets annoyed. So today I chose to ignore it.
"Well, it's almost 11 guys I got class" Clay announced. That was the cue where we all got up as we all had class at the same time. We all said goodbye to each other and walked out.

I was on my way to class when I received an email from my professor who had just canceled class last minute. I sighed and turned around back in the direction of the engagement room. Everyone was in class so I had this time to myself and work on some homework. I signed in and greeted Lexi and scanned the room to find an empty seat. As I scanned the room, I saw Alex sitting alone on his phone. He had this sad look on his face. I frowned and walked up to him.
"Hey." I stood in front of him and he immediately looked at me and smiled. He stood up to greet me.
"Hey" he hugged me, holding me by the waist. This didn't feel like a friend hug, but I ignored any superstitions I had. I smiled back and asked, "Is it cool if I sit here?"
"Yes of course. I thought you had class though." I put my stuff on the other chair and only carried my phone in my hand. "Class got canceled for me." he nods and says,
"I'm actually going to go grab some food," he paused and squinted. "Do you want to come with me?" I smiled and nodded as we walked out of the room.
"So how are you?" I asked, to see if he would open up to me about his relationship. He sighed sadly and without looking at me he shrugged
"This girl. She's just confusing me." I was puzzled and before I could say anything, we got into the elevator that took us to the cafe floor. We rode the elevator with other people so we remained in silence. Once we got off, he continued on.
"Well we went out and she seemed like she was into me too but the only problem is that she's still hung up on her ex." I cringed when he told me that. As I got to know Alex, he has had a long history with girls but I knew that he had a big heart and wanted something serious. He deserved so much better.
"She isn't worth your time then," he smiles sadly.
"I know."
"So why don't you just drop her?" he sighed loudly. "I really like her. I know I shouldn't, but I do. Maybe she might get over her ex when she's with me." he shrugged and approached the counter as it was his turn to order.
"Do you want anything?" I shook my head and smiled politely.
"I'm good, thanks" he rolled his eyes playfully and smiled at me then turned to the cashier.
"Can you add another burger and fries please" I look at him confused.
"You are going to take some of my food when it comes out" I roll my eyes and laugh with him.
Once we got the food, we ate and we talked about everything. I told him about high school and he told me about his family. I got to know him and he got to know me. I developed a friendship and a love for him. I wasn't sure if they were romantic feelings, but at this point, I knew. He was going to be someone very special in my life...
