Two weeks later found Isaac puking in the toilet with Scott behind him, frowning in worry at his mate's behavior. "You can't have been poisoned again, can you?" Scott fretted. "I mean, I've checked with Eichen, and Allison's still there...although, to be fair, they don't have the best track record..."

"No - no, it's not that," Isaac said as they drove to Deaton's while Jade was at school, before shutting his mouth immediately. "When I was poisoned, it felt like my innards were tearing themselves apart, I could feel myself getting weaker - pull over, Scott." Isaac clapped a hand to his mouth all of a sudden.

Scott nodded, and pulled over, and they were five minutes late to see Deaton because Isaac had been throwing up on the side of the road.

"Hello, Scott," nodded Deaton. "Isaac. What seems to be the problem?"

"He's been throwing up again," Scott answered for him, looking at his mate concernedly as he pulled Isaac closer to him. "But he can't have been poisoned again, can he? Allison's in Eichen."

"Yes, yes, and she hasn't left. Let me run some tests on him, and him alone," Deaton told Scott, who growled, but sighed and left Isaac alone with Deaton.

Isaac could hear Scott pacing outside of the animal clinic, and sighed, wishing he didn't cause his mate so much worry and stress. "Isaac," Deaton said after running a few tests, "I believe I've found what's wrong with you. Or rather, what's not wrong with you."

"You - you knew already, didn't you? Before I even came in with you," frowned Isaac, looking at the doctor.

"I had a feeling," hummed Deaton, refusing to meet Isaac's eyes. "Tell me, who watched over Jade, the last full moon?"

"Malia and Kira," answered Isaac. "They - um, they wanted Scott and I to have...to have some fun. The entire pack did, really, and Jade's been showing much more control, we don't have to use nearly as many restraints on her as we did at first..."

"So did you and Scott use protection, while you were having sex?" Deaton asked bluntly.

"Um." Isaac went red at the question. "The first time, definitely...the second time, maybe...I don't think in the shower...I don't know, about the other times. We did it...a lot of times," he confessed, his face turning fire-engine red by the end of the conversation. "But why is that important?"

Deaton sighed. "Because, Isaac," he informed the beta, "when the mate of an alpha has unprotected sex with an alpha on the night of a full moon, there's a high chance that the mate can get pregnant."

"B-but I'm male," stammered Isaac, remembering all the awkward lectures he'd received in Health class about this kind of thing.

Deaton shrugged. "It's rare, yes, but it can happen."

"You think I'm pregnant?" cried Isaac, getting off the silver table he'd been sitting on. "No - no, I can't be pregnant, I'm already messed up badly enough as it is - what if Scott hates me, forever?"

"I honestly don't think Scott would react that way. You two do already have a child together," Deaton referred to Jade. "And I don't know for certain just yet. There's only one way to find out, Isaac."

Isaac stared at the pregnancy test Deaton had given him as he went into the bathroom. He'd been there for fifteen minutes, and he still hadn't taken the test.

What if Deaton's right?

What if Scott's furious?

How do I tell Scott?

Finally, Isaac inhaled deeply and peed on the stick. One line - negative. 2 lines = positive, read the stick.

Of all the things Isaac thought could be wrong with him, this had not been it.
