The Connection

I closed my eyes preparing mentally for the headache to come, when the nurse entered the room. 'I'm so glad that your awake Ms. Delavere I'm nurse Higgins, how are you feeling?'. Barely looking at her I said 'Like I got ran over by a truck, followed by a train and sewn together by my nana'. Hearing that Dwayne chuckled.

The nurse looked at me smiling and said 'well, atleast your sense of humor was untouched'. With that, Dwayne went into a full blown laughter as the sound of his voice echoed off the walls.
Looking at both of us with concerned eyes she gave me morphine and dressed by wounds.

When she was done, she said she had some news. Apologizing profusely she began looking everything but at Dwayne and I. 'This topic is a bit sensitive so I'm not sure if you would like him in here as I tell you the news.'. Shaking my head I said 'No, he's signed to my agency he's fine'.

Taking a deep breath she said 'ok, here goes. So when the vehicle hit you, apparently you..... were pregnant. The fetus was in its early stages so it couldn't have survived the collision, I'm sorry '.

Not a rass!

'No, I'm sorry you're mistaken. I couldn't have been I wasn't seeing any signs'. Looking at me she said 'you weren't having any morning sickness? Cravings or Headaches? And then it hit me. For the past two weeks I've been having these constant headaches. That's all it took for me to break down.

Holding my tummy I screamed, I screamed until my voice was hoarse. Taken aback by my outburst both Dwayne and the nurse wasn't sure of what to do. She moved to have me sedated and I told her 'No, I want to feel everything. How far along was I?'
Looking terrified to answer she said 'about 6 weeks'.

Curling up into a ball I let it all out, breaking up with Leanzo, loosing my first child, the fight with kady and this loosing another child it's all too much. The atmosphere in the room changed with so much intensity that one could tell that what I'm going through is more than just an accident.

The nurse exited the room and Dwayne came over to me, 'tell me she's lying, tell me that this is some prank that Sean and Kady is pulling'. Before I could even say another word Dwayne was on the bed and I was in his lap. I curled up like a newborn baby as sobs rattled my body.

I cried until my tear duct was dry, I cried until my sounds and whimpers were all you could hear, I cried so hard I could feel my eyes began to swell.

He didn't say anything, he didn't do anything, he just held me. In his arms I felt safe, like everything would be ok but I knew when I woke up it would be far from that.

My eyes refused to stay opened as I felt his lips greet my forehead, I fell asleep.
