Arella’s POV

“Avi!!!”  I cry. I’d been calling my best friend’s name for five minutes, trying to wake her.

“What do you want Arella?”  She asks, not opening her eyes.

“Let’s go shopping.”  I say.

“Alright.”  She says, sighing a bit.

“Yay!”  I jump out of bed.  She smiles and gets up.  She walks over to her half of the closet while I walk to the dresser and go through my drawers.  I pull out a pair of black leggings and a black tank top then turn to see that Avi has a purple t-shirt and bellbottoms.  I facepalm; she’s so simple.  We change quickly and she walks over to the vanity and grabs her hair brush.

“Should I wear my hair down or in a ponytail?”  She asks, suddenly developing a British accent.

“Down.”  I say.  She nods and starts brushing her naturally black, Native American hair.  I smile and put on a pair of black sandals.  There’s suddenly a knock on the door.

“I wanted to remind you girls that you’re not in California anymore.  It gets a bit cold here in November, so dress warmly.”  Uncle Max says.

“Yes Uncle Max.  Can I move into my mother’s room soon?”  I ask.

“I should be finished with it by tonight.”  He says.  I cheer.  He just chuckles and walks away.  I love Avi, and I really don’t mind sharing a room with her, but I’d prefer to have my own room since we’ll be here for a year.  You see, we’re from the states but my Aunt Patricia and Uncle Max offered to let us stay with them in England for a while since we just graduated high school.  I put on a white sweatshirt and Avi gets her denim jacket out.  Then she walks over to the mirror and puts on some gold eye shadow that goes nice with her dark blue eyes.  I brush me naturally straight, red/brown hair and put it in a ponytail.  Then I put a white contact in my right eye and a black one in my left eye and put on some red eye shadow.

“I’m gonna go brush my teeth.”  Avi says, slipping on her black TOMS.  Then she runs across the hall to the bathroom.   She comes back two minutes later.  I grab my wallet and some gum.

“Ready?”  I ask.

“Yup.”  She says, grabbing her purse.  “Wanna go to the cinema when we’re done shopping?”

“Sure.”

“Okay.”  I head downstairs and go outside, Avi following a step behind me, like always.  She looks up at the sky.  “It’ll rain later.”  She says.

“Cool.”  I say.  I like the rain.

“It’s so different from Cali.”  She says absently.

“I miss Cali.”  I sigh.

“You’re the one who wanted to come, so don’t complain.”  She scolds playfully.

“I know, but I’m homesick.”

“Me too, but we’ll have fun here.”

“I know.”

“And besides, British guys are hot.”

“Yes, yes they are.”  I say, using my British accent.

“Using our accents probably won’t help us, I hear British guys are into American girls.”  She says.

“Okay.”  I say, going back to my regular accent.

“But I think I’d rather be British.”  She says, still using the British accent.
