Rue's POV
NADINE'S HAND keeps me comfort as we walk through the house.
"Your not gonna murder me, are you?" I ask, a joking manner in my voice.
"You always think I'm gonna murder you." Nadine laughs. Our hands are still holding each other as he leads me to the garage.
Everyone needs a friend.
Just a friend.
"Tesoro," I turn to my head to face him, but to find out he's already staring back at me. His blue eyes, "You may not like this, but we're gonna have to ride a motorcycle"
Oh.
"I don't mind, I've always wanted to ride a death trap," I walk more into the garage with him as he lets out a deep chuckle and soon after, I join him.
"Okay," He eyes me up and down and raises an eyebrow. "You should go change. It's cold as fuck out there, plus the wind when you ride a motorcycle..." He laughs. "...Your gonna be freezing." I nod my head and make my way to my bedroom.
I slip on some sweatpants, a sweater, my dirty white convers, and my coat. Hopefully I'm warm enough. Just in case, I g ab my gloves and my hat.
I walk outside and see that Nadine has his coat on. He motions for me to walk over to him, so I do. He slips a helmet over my head. It's a bit big, but he tightens is at the bottom so that It's more snug.
I see through the dark screen of my helmet, that Nadine does the same thing he did to me.
"Okay, so it's a little slippery outside, and it isn't the best idea to ride a motorcycle in the snow, but..." he looks at me for a moment. "I think it will be fun." I smile and walk over to him.
He gets on first and cranks up the motorcycle, letting it make a roaring noise.
I'm a little hesitant, but I soon join him. My chest is pressed against his back, and my arms are wrapped loosely around his torso. His chest is hard and his breathing is a bit uneven.
"If you don't want to fall if Tesoro, I suggest you hold on tighter." I can just see the smirk he has planted on his face from here, but I listen. Only because I don't wanna die. I wrap my arms tighter so that now I'm hugging him from behind.
He presses a button that's in his keys, and the garage opens revealing the dark sky. The stars are very visible at this time.
I don't even get a second chance to think about what I'm doing right now before Nadine takes off. The hair that's not tucked into my helmet, is blowing in the wind, I hope I'm not suffocating Nadine by how tight I'm holding onto him.
My eyes are shut tight, too scared to open them. I'm scared that if I look, I might get scared and try to jump off. Don't know how that makes sense, but I feel like I would do it.
"Are your eyes closed?" Nadine yells over the wind.
"No. Definitely not" I say sarcastically.
Nadine laughs and starts going faster.
I feel him start to slow down and then we come to a stop. That's when I open my eyes to see that we are now at a gas station.
"What are we doing here?" I pull my helmet off and set it onthe bike. Nadine doing the same.
"We are gonna get a few things and then go back home," he answers.
"Okay."
We walk into the gas station, my eyes immediately fly to the slushy machine that's planted on the wall. Gas stations give me deja vü. The vibes of going out late at night, having fun with your closest friends and all in all having a blast. Wait- what time is it?
"10:00 pm," I whisper to myself. I didn't realize how fast this day went by. I could've sworn it was 1:00 pm an hour ago.
I feel someone grab my hand and I look up to see ocean blue eyes. He guides me over to the slushee machine.
He grabs 2 large cups, handing one of them to me, "Thanks. It's a little cold for slushees, don't you think," I laugh.
He nods his head before looking back at the machine, "oh well,"
He presses the button and blue raspberry flavored ice starts coming out. He fills it near the top, before stopping. I look at him confused until I see him go to the cherry slushy and fill the rest of his cup up with that. He puts the lid on and pokes a straw through the ice.
I fill my cup up with just cherry and turn to see him waiting for me in line. He has his phone out and looks like he's texting someone. I walk up and stand beside him. As soon as he notices my presence, he puts his phone that was once out, away.
"Is that all you want?" He asks. I nod my head.
Nadine quickly pays, and pulls me outside. We sit on a bench that's a little bit away from the gas station. Nadine had rolled the bike over to us so that no one would steal it.
He takes a seat beside me. I can feel his warmth radiating off of his body. He smells good too. Kind of like... old spice.
I look up at the stars, I wonder if my parents are alive. If not. Do you think they're up in the stars with everyone else?
I don't know.
"Are you warm enough?" I turn my head and see Nadine looking at me.
I shrug my shoulders, wrapping my coat tighter to my body.I'm too cold to drink my slushy. I don't know why Nadine thought this was a good idea, but I'll admit. I'm enjoying this.
I take a few sips of my slushy, instantly regretting it when I get a brain freeze.
I put my hand up to my head, waiting for the feeling to go away.
"I'm cold," I look at Nadine and smile.
"Then let's get back to the house" He laughs and stands up, heading towards the bike. He pauses when he notices I'm not following. I laugh at him and turn my head away so that I'm facing a different direction.
After a minute or two, I'm lifted into the air, my back pressed against something hard, and arms wrapped around my torso.
I'm full on laughing at this point until I'm set down into the seat. I look up and see Nadine staring up at me. The tip of my head is barely half way up his chest since I'm sitting down.
His lips tug up just a bit before his face turns cold. I frown at this. Why doesn't he want to show me the real person he is? I know he's a little rough around the edges, but that doesn't mean he's like that inside.
God that sounded so cheesy.
He sits in front of me so that we're in the same position we were in earlier. My front against his chest.
We both put our helmets on and soon after, we're riding away.
