Nadine's POV

I pick up some medicine for Rue, just incase she starts feeling sick again. Kaylee asked me to get milk, eggs, and a bunch of other shit.

Grocery shopping.

"Здравствуйте, сэр, вы находите, что сегодня все в порядке?" I look to my side and see a short chubby man, wearing a blue shirt, and black pants.                                                                                   (Translation: Hello sir, are you finding everything okay, today?)

"Мне не нужна помощь". I answer, before he gets the chance to ask.                                                           (Translation: I don't need help."

"хорошо, хорошо, если ты будешь-"                                                                                                (Translation: Okay, well if you d-)

"Отвали." I spit at him.                                                                                                                                                         (Translation: Fuck off)

He sucks in a deep breath and slowly walks away. I continue my "Shopping". Picking up some bread, milk, and eggs. I don't know why I'm getting all this if they're leaving anyways. I have a feeling Ivan won't even know they left. And when-or if- he does, they'll be long gone before he can get to them.

I self checkout all my things, and put them in bags. I get out my Russian money- рубль- and transfer it into the machine. my change pops out, and I grab it, before walking out of the store.

I get to my car and press the unlock button. It beeps, and then I hear the locks, unlock. As I'm putting my groceries in, I feel a hand press against my shoulder. Without thinking, I turn around, grabbing their arm and twisting it behind their back.

They wince, "Let me go, Bro. It's me, Roan." Roan is one of Ivan's men. you might remember how I kept him hostage in my basement, after he helped us get home. Damn. It sounds bad when you put it like that.

I let him go and slightly push him away. He snatches his body further away, and pats down his clothes, "jeez, you're one paranoid man." He laughs. "But anyways. I came to tell you, that Ivan is coming over to your house, tomorrow."

"What is he coming over for?" I let myself ask.

"He's coming to get those kids who are planning to go back to New York. So don't let them leave, before then.. or he said, you can go ahead and do it yourself"

I feel myself worry, but I don't show it. "How the fuck did you even know where I was."

"I might have just been grocery shopping myself, then remember what Ivan told me to tell you."

"So you just happened to be shopping while I was?"

"Well- no. Okay fine. I tracked your car here." he admits.

"Yea, well don't do it again."

"okay, okay. Just remember. This is your last chance."

This your last chance.

The exact words Rue said to me the night of the dance. The night everyone got taken. the night she got tortured. The night that led to this day.

"Just be ready." Roan walks away, leaving me to get in my car, and drive home.
