Nadine's POV
I CHANGE into a clean white button up dress shirt. I slip on some black dress pants, and some black dress shoes.
I go into the hallway, but stop and knock on Rue's door before leaving.
"Come in." I hear her call. I do as she says, and enter. She sits on the bed, dressed in a white sports bra and black shorts. She holds long white bandage wraps. I'm guessing she's bandaging herself up.
"Need help?" I ask, walking further into her room. She looks up at me and smiles.
"That would be very much appreciated."
It's been a few days since our capture. Rue is slowly healing, and it makes me happy. No, it makes me fucking exhilarated.
I sit next to her and take the wrap from her hands. "You should lay back," I insist. She does so, resting her head on a pillow. I start wrapping her stomach, doing at least four layers before going down to the multiple cuts on her thighs. There's three on her left, and two on her right. Instead of using the wrap, I grab big bandages and some ointment.
I squeeze a bit of ointment on my fingers, and soothingly rub it onto the cuts. I hear a few winces from her, but other than that, it's quiet.
I put all the bandages on and go to sit on the bed. Rue sits up and stares at me, I notice the cut on her cheek. It looks a little raw and bloody. I scoot closer to Rue and put some more ointment on my hands. I use my spare hand to hold her face still. I rub the ointment on and watch as Rue slightly moves. I finally put the bandage on her cheek, now being done.
"I'll be back in a little," I whisper. She looks up at me and slightly frowns.
"You're going to meet with Ivan, aren't you?" She asks a little disappointed. I tuck a piece of her curly hair behind her ear. She leans into my touch and closes her eyes.
"How long will you be gone?" She asks, her eyes still closed.
I shrug my shoulders, "I don't know." She opens her eyes and sighs. "But I promise I'll be home as soon as I can."
She smiles. "Would you be okay if give you a farewell kiss?" She asks in a joking manner. I lean my head back a let out a little laugh.
"That would be nice." I answer. She sits up on her knees and scoots closer to me. Her hands hesitantly go to my neck. For once, she's the one towering over me. She slowly leans down, taking her time. Her lips meet mine, and slowly, they start moving in sync. I use one hand to cup her cheek, and the other to lay resting on her waist.
She pulls back and sits down. She looks up at me and smiles. "I seem clingy, don't I?" She asks. I chuckle a little.
"No."
"You're responses are so bland," she laughs. I laugh too.
"I'll be back, okay?"
She nods her head. I stand up, but before leaving, I press a kiss to her head. She looks up, surprised.
I leave Rue's room and go downstairs. I go the basement, to see Roan tied to a chair with a gag on. He's yelling, but it's muffled.
"Quiet." I demand, walking near him. He looks up at me, and immediately settles down. "You wanna see your Mafia again, don't you?" I ask. He frantically nods his head. "Good. So you'll be quiet and listen to me." He's hesitant, but nods his head anyways.
I slip her gag down so that it's not on his mouth. "Where are we going?" He asks in a shaky voice.
"You tell me," I answer, "cause you're gonna tell me where the Russian head quarter's are, or you're gonna be chopped up and stuffed in a freezer."
He looks at me with horror. I let out a deep chuckle, "joking." I laugh again, "I wasn't joking."
"I-I'll take you. Please don't chops me up and put me in your freezer." He begs.
"Glad your cooperating." I smile
I put my coat on, and lead Roan outside. I start the car engine, and cram Roan in the backseat.
"Okay, where do I go first?" I ask as I pull out of the driveway.
Roan tells me directions the whole way, until I get about an hour away from the house.
"Where are we?" I ask.
"Go a little further, there's a clearing in the woods. That's where the mansion is." He states. I do as he told me, and there it is. I face a mansion.
I get out of the car and grab Roan. I lead him to the front gates. "What's the code." I demand. Instead of him telling me, he does it himself. Putting the numbers, 101510, in.
The gates open, and we immediately walk through, going to the front door. There's a handprint recognition pad to get in. I forcefully put his hand on the pad. The pad scans his hand then blares green, allowing the doors to open.
As soon as they open, I'm met with about ten guys dressed in suits. They're gathered In the living room. Among them, stands Ivan. He's speaking to them, ordering them. A few seconds later, his eyes look up and meet mine. He's surprised. And in an instant, dozens of guns are now pointing at me. I take my gun out and hold it to Roans head.
"I just want to talk." I yell. They all look at me confused.
"Then put your gun down." Ivan orders, "and then we can talk."
"You think I'm stupid? Put your guns down, and I'll put mine down, AND then, we can talk." I finish.
He sucks in a deep breath, obviously annoyed. He looks at his men. They look back. Ivan nods his head, and in an instant, their guns are off of me, and back into their holster. I keep to my word, and put my gun down.
"Now what do you want to talk about?" Ivan asks, walking toward me.
"Everything."
-
"So you're telling me, the French kidnapped you, and my men, without me noticing? How the fuck does that happen?" He asks, his Russian accent strong.
"Yea, I'm pretty sure that's what I said."
"So why are you here?" He asks, turning his attention to me, "what could you possibly need?"
"I..." I don't know if I wanna say it. "I wanna make an alliance." I simply say. Ivan looks at me for a moment, and then busts out laughing.
"Jeez Nadine-" he says wiping a tear, "I thought you were being serious." He continues laughing.
"I am being serious."
His laughing slightly fades. He gives me a 'what the fuck' look. "Your serious?" He asks. I take in a deep breath and nod my head.
"You do know, me and your parents are supposed to be at war, right." He pulls out a cigar and holds is between his fingers, before lighting it and placing it in his mouth.
"My parents aren't here. To be honest, I thought you had them. But I know you don't."
He laughs, "fuckk, I wish." He slaps his hand on the table, "and you're right. My battle was with them, not you. If you really wish to form an alliance, I'm down."
"Good. Cause this alliance could help us accomplish many things. But my main priority, is to end the French Mafia. Then we can go from there." I finish.
"Sounds like a plan."
I nod my head and go to stand up. But Ivan's words cute me off from leaving.
"You do know, a marriage must happen in order for this alliance to begin, right." Ivan says, clearing the air. I turn around to look at him. He has a weird smile on his face, "you still want that alliance?" He asks, joking.
I run a hand through my hair and sit back down. "I think I need a few drinks." I say. He nods his head in agreement. He pulls out a glass bottle. His initials are on the bottle in a decorative way. He pulls out two cups and begins pouring equal amounts.
He slides the cup towards me, slightly spilling some. I bring the glass up to my lips.
Whiskey.
"I'll do it."
