"HELP!! HELP PLEASE, MY SON HAS BEEN SHOT BY YOUR MAN, OTIS!!", They heard from outside, Hershel was the first to get up and Charlie like always followed right after him. They were horrified when they saw a man dirty man in a sheriff's outfit holding a young boy, whom was bleeding profusely. Charlie took a step back out of her dad's way and made sure she didn't get in anyone else's way. He looked pale from losing a lot of blood and the man who was carrying him was pale from the fear. She did not want to be in the room anymore. She saw as her dad took out his medical supplies but he was a vet and not a doctor. It's pretty much the same, right?

A while later a woman showed up on the back of a horse with Maggie; her sister. She assumed she was his mom because they looked almost identical.
"Oh God, Carl??! Carl, mommy's here... shhh don't worry mommy's here," Lori spoke as she kissed her son's hand. Charlie stood in the doorway and admired the looks of the young boy her age. He had freckles like his mother and blue eyes like his father. His brown hair came from his mother and he looked even more pale now. After she realized she stared too long she cleared her throat and introduced herself.
"Hi, I'm Charlie, Charlie Greene." she spoke as she stretched her arm out with a soft smile played on her face. The lady shook her hand back and gave her smile but Charlie knew that her focus was on her son in that moment. Her heart ached for her as she knew what it's like to lose someone you love, Charlie's mom had died recently due to the virus that killed many. She hoped that there was a cure being made by the CDC.

Charlie knew where to find her father, she always did. She was the youngest and therefore she spent a lot of time with him.
She knew she would find him on the porch, when she got out there she admired her dad. He was old, for he had her really late into his life.
Walking silently towards him she whispers, "Is he going to be okay daddy? Will he survive..?". Hershel looked back at her with a soft smile, he motioned for her to come sit on his lap and he began to talk.
"He will, I could see it in his face the moment he was carried in here. He's young but he's been through a lot," he comforts.
She stood up when Lori came out in a panic, "I think he's seizing!!"
Charlie got up quickly to see what she could do to help, she didn't want to be seen as weak.
Beth; her other sister was always great at distracting her so she came to her in the kitchen, "Char, come help me make some lemonade for the new folks over there." Char was her nickname she hated it but she hated being called 'Lee more. She tried to squeeze the lemons but her small hands weren't tough enough. So she sat to the side once again watching the older people do the work.
"Come on Charlie, you can help me bring the lemonade to them." Maggie said as she took the pitcher. Charlie took the stacked cups and follows after her sister. They walked past the room where they let the boy sleep in. Charlie stopped in the doorway and watched as his eyes fluttered open. His mom ran quickly to his side.
"Hurry up Charlie" Maggie waved her over while she held the front door open. It was dark outside, the breeze caught them off guard. The silence caused her to start thinking about the biters. What if they were there lurking in the dark and crept up on them. She snapped back to reality when she saw the small fire that the people who were apart of the group that the young boy's family came from.
"My sisters and I made some lemonade. We figured you guys would need it after being on the road for a while.." Maggie spoke up as she poured some in a cup and passed it out.
"Is this vegan?" A young man spoke up. He looked about Maggie's age and his black hair was like the night. Charlie swore she saw Maggie blush for a minute before it turned into a frown.
"Why, are you a vegan?" Maggie crossed her arms.
"No." He laughed before it turned into a cough to hide it. "Sorry" He said sheepishly.
Charlie laughed at his obvious try to make conversation before Maggie playfully slapped her back. "Let's go.." Maggie walked away leaving them there.
"Sorry about my sister, she doesn't get your humour." She apologised.
"It's alright. Did you help make this lemonade?" He asked.
"Yeah, I did all the hard parts." She boasted.
"Like what?" He grinned.
"Like tasting it. Man, it was sour." Charlie scrunched her face up to show him.
He laughed and threw his head back, before he stuck his hand out, "I'm Glenn,"
"I'm Charlie, and that was Maggie. I would shake your hand but it's full." She said while waving around the cups in her hands.
"Charlie, it's getting dark. Come back!!" Beth screamed from their porch.
"Comin!!" Charlie hollered back. She started running back but not before she gave one last smile to Glenn and he gave her a wave. She got tired so she started walking slowly, suddenly she heard a stick snap, "Maggie? Is that you?" She didn't bring a flashlight so she strained her eyes to make out the figure in the dark. "Maggie that's not funny." She said as she kept on walking. Suddenly she got tackled to the ground. "Ah!" She screamed as she got pinned on the floor by a biter. Her dad came out with his riffle. "Help!!" She said as she tried to push its head away with her hand. She was only 11 so she couldn't do much. Glenn ran over with a knife. It opened its mouth again to try and take a bite, while Charlie opened her mouth to scream. Glenn pulled the biter off of her and stabbed it in the head.
"Are you okay? Are you bit??" Glenn asked.
"Y- You just killed it.." Charlie's face was white.
"I had to, it's not human anymore." He explained.
"What happened?!" The dad of the boy shouted as he ran over.
"They've never come all the way out here
before," Her father said as he still held his riffle. He dropped it when. Charlie ran into his arms crying.
"Must've ran out of food in the city." Another man said as he came over.
"From now on I don't want you travelling alone at night." Herschel said as he kneeled to her level.
Charlie nodded, clearly still shaken up about the situation. "Go inside with your sisters." Herschel said as he beckoned her inside. She knew he was going to talk about something serious with the people there, he always said that. It was nothing new.
