⚠️Brief mention of self harm⚠️

It was the middle of the night when Sirius Black darted upright in his bed sweating furiously. He took a deep breath and tried to steady himself. He went to get in bed with Remus or James (his emotional support) but then remembered that they weren't speaking to him since the incident. Sirius knew the real reason he had been mad at Snape but the others didn't. They didn't hear what he had said. And Sirius wanted it to stay that way, no matter how hard it was for him. Snape's words echoed in his head.

"How would everyone feel about perfect Sirius Black if they knew that he was beaten bloody by his parents?" "Or that he's gay?" "Or that he's a cutter?" "Or that he likes Remus Lupin? Speaking of which, where is your boyfriend tonight? I'm sure he's missing his bitch." "He's got a secret, Black. What is it? Does he have another bitch? You during the week and another on the weekends? Which of you is better in bed?" Sirius pulled the covers back over his head feeling hopeless and alone and started to cry softly. Not realising he wasnt the only one laying awake

Remus was staring at the ceiling. He wanted to hate Sirius for what he had done. He'd put everyone in danger, even James and Peter; he could've revealed their illegal animagus form, or Remus could have lashed out at them if he had been fully transformed and confused by Snape's appearance. But he didn't. He couldn't. It was Sirius. And while he wasn't ready to let go of his anger yet, he knew that he would give in to Sirius eventually. He sighed, tiredly scrubbing at his face as he lay in the top bunk, tensing when he heard soft sobbing below him. But below him was...for a moment he considered letting Sirius just ride the tears out. It was late at night, it was probably just a nightmare. It would pass. But then he realised he couldn't do that - Pads wasn't crying in his sleep, he was obviously awake and sounding heartbroken. He finally clambered out of his bunk, gently pulling back Sirius' curtain. "Pads? S'late, you should be asleep," he reminded him, hesitating before perching on the edge of the mattress.

Sirius rolled over and looked into Remus amber eyes wiping his own. "I know, I just....Had a bad dream.." he lied hoping Remus would buy it. "Why are you awake still? Are you okay?, I didn't wake you up did I?" He asked in concern.

It would be easier if Remus could believe him. If he didn't know him so well, maybe he could clamber up to his own bunk and peace and just leave it be. But he knew Sirius better than himself. So he couldn't do either of those things. He shuffled over, yanking the curtain shut and quickly casting a silencing spell around them so they wouldn't wake up the other boys. "You didn't wake me up," he promised with a slight shrug. "Do you want to tell me what's actually going on with you?"

Sirius moved over a little allowing room for Remus to sit beside him and shook his head. He trusted Remus, he knew he wouldn't care but Sirius didn't want Remus to worry about him. "No I swear Moons, it was just a nightmare. I'm fine" He said digging his fingernails into his leg in fear under the blanket.

Remus shook his head slightly, pulling his knees up to his chest as he kept sitting in Sirius' bed. "I know things haven't been easy lately, but that doesn't...I still know when you're lying. You don't have to lie to me. If I didn't care I'd still be in my bunk, I just...I can be angry at you and not want you to be upset, those things are mutually exclusive," he countered, fingers anxiously plucking at his pyjama bottoms.

Sirius took a deep breath and looked into Remus eyes. "I'm so sorry" he muttered softly. "It was what Snape said that made me do it. Its stupid though. I'm sorry Re" he said nervously before repeating everything Snape had said to him. After he finished his eyes locked with Remus. He was waiting for the outburst, the slap. The rage.

Remus looked down at Sirius in shock as he finally repeated everything. He supposed he could understand now, why Sirius had been pushed to such an extreme. And as much as it had put the rest of them in danger..."Merlin, Pads, why didn't you say anything before?" He sighed, laying down and gently pulling him into his arms the way he usually did when the other boy had a nightmare.

Sirius couldn't stop himself from flinching when Remus moved toward him before curling into the other boys chest. "I'm sorry Remus, I just...I didn't want you to worry about me. I should have said something. I'm sorry" he said softly his voice horse and his eyes welling up again. "I though it would be easier to deal with alone"

"Idiot. I'm always going to worry about you, Sirius," Remus countered, lightly resting his chin on top of Sirius' head, black curls tickling his skin. "You didn't have to do it alone. You don't. Not anymore. Okay?"

Sirius smiled tilting his head up a little untill their faces were within an inch of each other Sirius blushed. "May I...I mean can I...Can I kiss you?" He asked shyly

Remus should say no. He knew that. Everything that had happened...it had still been wrong. But it was Sirius. And he'd missed him so much his heart ached with it. "Yeah," he murmured, leaning in to kiss Sirius without hesitation.

Sirius smiled into the kiss felling truly happy for the first time in weeks. For the first time in ages he didn't feel alone. He wrapped his arm around Remus neck and pulled him down beside him so that they were both laying snuggled up on the bed. "Stay with me tonight?" Sirius asked hopefully.

"Yeah, okay. I'll stay," Remus agreed, heart racing with giddiness. He'd just kissed Sirius. Really kissed him. "I missed you," he murmured, gently pulling him closer and tangling their legs together.

Sirius smiled again placing on hand on Remus chest tracing it with his finger. "I missed you too Re, so much."

"I love you"
