Josh's flight did not arrive in New York until the morning. Since he had spent hours on a flight Scarlett decided to surprise him with breakfast at her apartment. She made scrabbled eggs, bacon, toast and all the other breakfast food essentials. She had even went to the store to buy orange juice so they could have mimosas. She placed her sparking white dishes and set the table to look picture perfect. She laid out all of the food on her small square dining table and waited for the doorbell to ring. Her call time was not until 5:00 so she had practically the whole day to spend with him. Even though she had meticulously prepared a beautiful breakfast for them she knew that they would probably not eat much of it as they would be too busy having reuniting sex. Josh was great in bed. He made her feel things that she never knew she could. The majority of the time they spent together was having sex. Now that she thought of it she hadn't had a real conversation with him since their first date. He either popped into her place to see her at night and slept with her or she would go to his place late in the evening when she wasn't working. Maybe, the sex was enough though. She trusted him and felt comfortable with him. That's all a relationship should be.
She hadn't seen Josh in almost two months and she was ecstatic to see him again. Yes, she wanted to have sex with him again, but she also wanted to spend more time with him not in bed. She wanted to get to know him on a deeper level. She didn't even know what his favourite food is. What if he has allergies? Maybe he can't even eat the breakfast she just made. Her thoughts started to spiral and she started to panic realizing that she barely knew her boyfriend. She paced around the room starting to sweat with anxiety. She stopped in her tracks when her phone started to ring. It must be Josh, she thought.
"Hey babe, have you arrived?" She answered without looking at the caller ID.
"Umm... it's me Scarlett, Chris," he said awkwardly. He had got so giddy when she called him babe. It sounded so perfect coming out of her mouth. He wanted to be her babe.
"Shit, sorry Chris. Josh would be arriving any minute now. I made us this amazing breakfast, but I don't even know if he will like it. Oh my god, what if his flight is like. The food will be cold-" Chris interrupted her before she could continue.
"Scarly, don't stress. I am sure your breakfast is lovely. Don't worry he will just be happy to see you," he tried his best to calm her down.
"Thanks Chrissy. I don't know why I am so nervous. It's just been a while since I have seen him. I want things to be perfect," she gathered her thoughts starting to calm down.
"No worries. Long distance is hard, but you are the strongest and sweetest person I know. Any guy would be lucky to eat a homemade meal made by you," he smiled into the phone.
"Well arn't you mr.compliments today. Thank you for being my cheerleader I really needed that. Now why are you calling?" She was so much calmer now because of Chris. She had almost forgotten that he had called her.
"Oh no it's nothing. You have fun with Josh, I will see you later on set," he said. He had actually called her because he wanted to talk with her. He wanted to be open with her about why him and Jessica broke up and about his feelings for her. He wanted them to talk about this weird invisible force that kept pulling them together. However, she was waiting for Josh, her boyfriend. She already had someone, she didn't need to hear about Chris's feelings for her. She already had someone who loved her. He didn't want to complicate things for her. He wanted her to be happy.
"Are you sure? It must have been important since you called," she said. Why was he just brushing her off.
"No, no don't worry. Just go enjoy your time with Josh," he said and then hung up the phone before she could reply.Scarlett didn't really know what to make out of the abruptness of how Chris ended the call, but she decided to just brush it off and text Josh.
S: Have u landed babe?
J:Yup just got my baggage just waiting for a car
S:Ok, I made breakfast. I can't wait to see you.
J:see you soon :)Scarlett looked at her food she had prepared all laid out on the table. She was worried that it would go cold. It would be at least 30 minuets until Josh arrived. Before her mind could start to spiral again she remembered Chris's words. She calmly put all of the hot food in the oven to keep hot. She needed to keep herself busy while she waited for Josh to calm her nerves. She grabbed her script and started to read the highlighted lines out loud. Then she looked at the notes on the scene they were filming in the evening. They were filming the scene where Harvard Hottie and Annie have sex. The scene wasn't them in bed together or anything like that as the movie was rated pg, but in the scene Harvard Hottie and Annie kiss passionately against his apartment door and fall inside together. It was clearly implied that they would sleep together. They had already filmed a kiss scene together when they did the date scene, but it was not as intense as the one coming up that evening. Scarlett already had butterflies just thinking about kissing Chris later on. She started to think about how she would kiss him. She should defiantly use tongue, she knew he would like that, plus it would make the scene more authentic. She thought about how she would wrap her arms around his head and weave her fingers on his fucking gorgeous light brown hair. She then started to realize that she was starting to fantasize rather than plan the scene. She felt guilty about desiring Chris. She had a boyfriend who was about to walk through the door at any moment. Just as the thought about Josh popped in her head the door bell rang signalling he had arrived.
"Hello Beautiful," she opened the door to her dashing man.
"Hey Josh," she smiled and started to blush. He walked a step closer to her closing the gap between them and kissed her on the lips.
"I am so happy you are here. Come in I will get the food," Scarlett pulled away first.
"It smells great in here babe," he walked into her apartment.
"You can put your bags in my room," she called from the kitchen. "I even left a drawer free and cleared some closet space so you can put your stuff in," Josh was staying at Scarlett's place so that they could spend as much time as possible together before he had to leave again.
"That's great, thank you," he rolled his luggage into her room. By the time he went back to the dining table Scarlett had all the food set out again. "This looks amazing!" He wrapped his arm around her waist.
"Thank you," she looked up at him smiling and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. They sat down across the table from each other and started to fill their plates with food.
"I never knew that you were a cook," he said dishing hash browns onto his plate.
"Yeah I can cook the basics, but I order take out or eat out because it's just faster. Plus I normally eat on set anyways," having to plan meals was too much mental energy and she never really had time to buy groceries.
"I see," Josh sliced his pancake and took a bite. "This is delicious," he smiled.
"Aww it was nothing. It's just a pancake, a kid can make them," she said.
"So how is work?" He asked her.
"It's good. It's nice to be in New York. It's familiar and it's home," she said.
"That's nice. Your working with Chris right. How's that? You two did that movie together when you were a teenager right?" Josh asked.
"Umm yeah, he's great," she looked down and took a big bite out of her patty. "What about you? How's your work? When do you think you will be done? I want you all to myself," she smirked.
"Hopefully soon, but we may have to do reshoots in a few months," he said.
"Ugh," she sighed in annoyance. She just wanted a boyfriend who could be there for her. She understood that he was a busy person and his work would always take priority, but she was sick of just talking to him on the phone. Maybe dating another actor was a bad idea. After all the hectic schedule syncing was why her and Jared broke up. She could sense that her and Josh were heading down the same road.
"Sorry baby, but work is work. Maybe you can come visit me?" He suggested.
"I guess, but I am headed off to the UK basically right after the Nanny Diaries to film The Other Boleyn Girl," Scarlett said. Things where so much easier when they were both in LA. When they were able to freely go out together and spend their nights in each others arms.
"I am sure we will figure it out," Josh reached across the table to squeeze her hand. Those were the exact words he had said when she left LA. Things were never figured out. He hadn't once visited her in New York until that day. He had said he would visit on weekends, but that did not happen.
"I guess so," she said compliantly. She didn't want to pick a fight with him. It was
easier to just agree with whatever he said.
"So I have a one scene tonight then I was thinking about maybe going out for drinks after," she said. "Chris really wants to meet you, so does my brother so they could come too," she continued.
"Sounds like a plan," he agreed. "So what are we gonna do now," he wooed his mouth with his napkin and then placed it on his empty plate.
"We can do whatever you want," Scarlett got up from her seat and was about to grab his dish.
"Mmm, whatever I want?" He pressed his lips together then trailed his hand up her thigh.
"I should put everything away first," she stuttered.
"Don't worry about the dishes," he unclenched her fingers that were wrapped about the brim of his plate. She obediently gave into him and watched as he started to stand. As he got up out of his chair he moved his hand up her body outlining her curvy silhouette. His touch made her get goosebumps. When he was on his feet, he lifted her up and carried her into the bedroom ready to make love to her.I hope you enjoyed the chapter please vote and comment your thoughts
