Skyler

I slept wonderfully. Unfortunately, it is now time to get up. I really need a cup of coffee first to wake up. When I get to the kitchen, Samantha is already there. "Good morning". I say as I sit down on the kitchen bar. "Coffee?". I can laugh when she says that. She doesn't seem to be much of a morning person either. "Gladly". She fills two mugs and then turns to give me one. "Thank you. Sleep well?". If I get a yes for an answer, then I know she's lying. She looks dead tired. "You?". Okay, so no answer at all. Then it must have been really bad and I don't think she wants to talk about it. "Yes, I did sleep well. The bed is wonderful." I get a little smile from her. "Good".

Samantha sits across from me on the counter. "Would you like to ride with me to school later?". She shakes her head. "I don't want them to know at school. I don't like it if everyone says something about it. Don't you mind living with a student. I mean won't you get in trouble for that at school ?". I hadn't really thought about that at all. "Yeah, okay I get that. I can get you out a street earlier, so you only have to walk the last part". I can see she's thinking about it. "Maybe another time. I'll just ride with Lara now." I give her an understanding nod. "Okay fine and about problems at school. I don't know. I'll find out later. I still have to give my address to the principal and then I'll tell him. I don't think it's a big problem You also have relatives at school where one is in front of the class and the other is a student." "Yes, that's true. I'm going to get ready." She then jumps off the counter and walks away. "Oh uhm Sky did you want to have dinner together tonight? Then I know if I should cook some more". she says as she turns back to me and I get a big smile on my face. "What did you call me?". I see her cheeks turn red and she quickly puts her hands over her face. I get off the kitchen bar and walk over to her. "Don't hide that. It looks so good on you." I say as I take her hands away from her face. "And I have absolutely no problem with you calling me that." I notice that she wants to put her hands in front of her face again and I just shake my head once with a smile. Luckily she doesn't and I can keep looking into her eyes for a while. "But to answer your question. I would love to have dinner together." Samantha just nods once and then quickly goes upstairs. I don't know why, but I can't get the smile off my face.

The day at school runs smoothly. Indeed, the principal had no problem with me living at the same address as Samantha. He actually liked it. Apparently he knows a thing or two about the situation Samantha is in, but I don't want to hear that from him. If I ever find out, it's because she tells me herself. The principal had another proposal that I should discuss with her later. I am now in front of Samantha's class and it is the last hour of the day for both of us. I just finished a whole explanation and put the students to work. When I look at the back of the class, I see her head on the table again. You're not going to tell me she's fallen asleep again. I walk quietly through the class and stand next to her table. It seems that she is indeed sleeping again, which doesn't surprise me either. I can see those tired eyes from this morning again. I'd love to let her sleep, but I can't. I then carefully place my hand on her shoulder and rub it gently. She looks at me startled and I give her a smile. I then go through her book and point out what she has to make. She nods once with a guilty look and then goes to work. "Samantha, will you stay after class?". I ask as soon as I sit at my desk. "Okay Sk... Miss Reese". I see her putting her hands in front of her face and all I have is a smile on my face.

The bell has just rung and only Lara and Samantha are left in the room. "Samantha do you want to ride with me? There is no one left who can see that you getting into my car". Samantha then looks at me. "Is that why I had to stay?". I nod. "Oh. Uhm yes that's good". I laugh once. "Then why did you think?". She shrugs. "Probably because you fell asleep again." Samantha's cheeks turn red when Lara says so. Lara and I smile at each other for a moment. "Yes, that would have been a good reason." Samantha looks at me shyly when I say that. "Sorry". I shake my head. "I don't mind. You have to do more work at home because of that or you can start making it now. I still have to finish something before we can go". She nods and then looks at Lara. "Would you like to stay a little longer to help me?" Lara nods and then the two of them get to work and I quickly finish my own work.

In between work, Samantha and I exchange glances with each other a few times and I can't get my smile off my face again. "Are you ready too?". I ask as soon as I'm done and get up and pack my things. "I haven't quite finished it yet." says Samantha. "Okay. Do I have to help you with it at home?" She nods. "If you don't mind." I shake my head. "No. That's something I need to talk to you about anyway." She looks at me questioningly. "I was allowed to introduce you to the principal that you no longer have to go to the extra lessons and that I will help you at home". I see the fear in her eyes. "Did you talk about me?". I shake my head and walk over to her. I squat down in front of her and grab her hands. Samantha looks at our hands and doesn't dare to look at me. "I'll go home. See you tomorrow." I glance at Lara. I move my mouth in a "thank you" without making a sound and I get a nod of approval in return. "Samantha look at me". She shakes her head. I put my hand under her chin and lift her face. I see the tears in her eyes. "I only talked about school. When I told him that I live with you, he told me that you find math difficult. That you get extra lessons on the days when you don't have math. I asked him if I could do that at home, but only if you like it. That way I can help you in a specific way, because we do it one on one. The choice is yours, as long as you know that I like to do it for you." Meanwhile, I wipe her tears away. "Thank you and if you really don't mind that, that would be nice." I give her a smile. "Okay, then you will have private lessons at home from today. We really haven't talked about anything else. The principal wanted to tell me a few things, but I told him I didn't want to hear it. If I get to hear anything at all, then it's yours. Because you want to tell yourself. If you don't want to tell me, that's totally fine. If you ever feel the need, I'll listen to you. Okay?". She then nods. "Come on, now it's time to go home." I say and then we leave for home.
