SAGE'S POV

Ten a.m., a good time to go with my aunt to make a deal with my brothers' school, right? Not really, my temper today is worse than it has been the last few weeks and I'm ready to snap at anyone who dares to even stare at me for more than two seconds. Besides my bad temper today the weather isn't that pleasant. They're saying on the news that fall has arrived earlier this year and my body is not liking this at all!

I'm still a tad thin and my aunts aren't all that happy with that, they think it's the drugs used on me that are responsible for this, but I'm not so sure. After all, it's been months! I mean how long can they stay in my system? Shouldn't they be gone by now?

Blaze is a bit better than me, although she's still a bit small. I'm already thirty-one weeks along, almost thirty-two, but my lack of meat on my bones is leaving me a human iceberg! I'm always cold! Between me and Blaze she's the only one who's been putting on weight, I've gained eight kilos but two of them belong to her.

"Sage, let's go. There are two chocolate muffins in there, one yogurt with fruit and cereals and a pack of chocolate milk alongside a spoon for the yogurt. Eat on the way to school." Aunt Jully gives me the paper bag and helps me off of the bed.

"Thanks." I grab the vitamins and other crap I have to take after eating and put them inside the bag. After that, I follow my aunt out of my room.

"Are y'all going already?" Uncle James asks us as he walks out of his room with crutches.

"Yeah, I have an appointment with the principal at eleven, and it's better to be safe than sorry..." Aunt Jully mutters when she sees uncle James raise an eyebrow at her and eye the clock behind her. "God knows how much that school hates our family." She drily says and rolls her eyes. Uncle James laughs at her and smiles at me.

"The principal works for us, the last one was substituted after Diesel's accident. If you ever have any problems just go to him." I nod my head and make a mental note to investigate this guy.

"Ok, see ya later uncle. Let's get this hell over with aunt Jully."

"I agree, kid, let's go. Later, James." Uncle James waves us goodbye and we head to the elevator.

"Wait!" He suddenly calls us. "Aren't you going to be too hot with that huge hoodie of Shauwn's dressed, Sage?"

Me? Too hot? This crap is just barely keeping me warm! All the drugs injected in me during those torturous six months and now all these meds along with these pregnancy hormones have fucked up my body heat regulation. I'm almost shaking with how could I'm feeling!

"A better question is, are you still cold Sage?" Aunt Jully correct uncle James and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for my answer while uncle James's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets with the question.

"I feel almost as cold as I was while inside that cell I was held captive in, even though it's fifteen degrees Celcius outside." I answered and watched as my uncle's jaw falls open. Aunt Jully shakes her head and heads back to my room probably to get me a jacket. She comes back less than three minutes later and hands me a dark blue jacket.

"Damn kid, they really messed up with your immune system!" Uncle James exclaims worried as he watches me put on the jacket.

"They did." Aunt Jully confirms. "But hopefully with time, we'll be able to reverse the damage done. Now, let's go." We bid our goodbye to uncle James once again and left the hospital.

- Twenty-six minutes, a hot chocolate, and my whole bag of breakfast and meds later and we arrived at school. -

"I'm going to speak with the principal first, just wait by the chairs outside of his office, ok?" I nod and follow my aunt inside the school, paying close attention to the way to the office to memorize it in case I ever need it.
