DIESEL'S POV
After what happened at midnight, Dad stayed with Sage to make sure she slept. Vin kept her phone in case the crazy bastard called her again.
And I... Each time I fell asleep, I would wake up after a few minutes.
The clock struck 4 a.m.
I decided to get up and check on my sister. I know my father is with her, but I just got a feeling something is up.
I tiptoed to her room and sneaked inside, watching her from the doorway. At first glance, she seemed fine, and I was going to believe it and leave her room if she hadn't suddenly furrowed her eyebrows.
"Sage?" I whispered, testing if she was awake. She twitched, and her whole face got stuck in a pained frown. With quick, silent steps, I approached her bed and leaned over my father to check on her. I turned on my phone's torch for some light and turned it half away from the bed to not overwhelm her.
When the light hit her face, my brows involuntarily lifted. She seemed as pale as a corpse!
I shined the light right on the bed to see if I wasn't hallucinating, but no. My sister is pale as a dead body, lips turning blue and skin cold and clammy.
"Sage!"
"Diesel, what are you doing!?" My father woke with a start to see me shaking my sister.
Sage didn't react.
"What are you doing? Stop that before you wake her!" That's the problem. She's not waking up!
"Why the hell is my leg wet?" He grumbled and smacked my head, pushing me away from my sister. He lifted the bed cover, and I caught a glimpse of red on his light grey pajama pants.
"Give me that shit!" My father snapped in a hurry and took the phone from my hand. He pulled back her covers, and a massive pool of blood was underneath her. His pants had soaked up a good bit, but the spot itself wasn't normal. She could be on her period, but she was not free bleeding on her bed for the state it was in!
I checked her neck, and at the same time, my father checked her nose. She was breathing, but her heartbeat was very low.
"Shit!"
"What is wrong with my daughter?" Sin asked on the verge of desperation.
They called the hospital before they arrived. Everyone was waiting for them downstairs with a stretcher, and they took her away right after they stopped the car.
"Four things." Her ob-gyn lifted up four fingers and waved them slightly. "At first, we thought something might have happened while she went missing, but unless someone created a new indetectable drug that causes anemia and low levels of thrombocytes, then she's just anemic and in serious need of a transfusion."
"I wouldn't be surprised if she was used as a lab rat again." Diesel sneered inaudibly while standing on the side of the room, waiting to hear the rest. Vin was with a nurse, donating blood for their sister.
"The second and third reasons have to do with her pregnancy. The hormonal imbalance in her body did part of this, and her uterus shrinking to its normal size did the other. The amount of blood she was losing was unnatural. The fourth is that her meds caused the low level of thrombocytes."
"Useless." Diesel hissed and went outside the office to avoid attacking the woman. His father can cope well hearing all the bullshit spilling from that woman's lips.
"Your daughter needs serious psychological help. She has not processed the things she went through correctly. And now, losing her child came as a huge shock for her system. It took a big toll on her, and I seriously do not see Davina coping with this." The conversation ended there.
