SAGE'S POV

I woke up and found a breathing mask on my face - that was the first thing I noticed. The second was that I was back in my hospital bed on the private side of the maternity ward. And the third was my father, sitting on my couch with his legs crossed and glasses on, reading through some files with my brother Vin shirtless and holding my cooing daughter against his chest.

"Zito J. James Sorely won't mess with other people's business anymore." My father spoke, relaxed, without taking his eyes off the file he was reading. He licked the tip of his index finger and leisurely turned the page before speaking again. "Your sister is currently looking at us as if we were demons, Vin. Give me Blaze, and offer her a chocolate bar to sweeten her expression." He muttered lazily and put the files down on his lap, stretching his arms to Ziva.

Once my baby was on his lap, dad smiled down at her, and only then did he lift his gaze to me. "Good afternoon, Sage. Your aunt Stella did me a favor and filled me in on your case. She also did you a favor and made you aerosols to help you breathe better. How are you breathing now?"

I accepted the chocolate from my brother's hand and gave him a quick, suspicious once over in case he decided to mess with me.

"Why are you looking at me like that? I just came to bring you the chocolate. Chill, girl." Vin grumbled, sounding a bit upset, and retracted back to the sofa with his hands in the air and his eyes fixed on mine.

"I'm breathing better now, thanks. How's Blaze? Has she eaten anything?"

"This little one is fine. At the moment, you are the only one concerning me. You have undiagnosed asthma, but from what your aunt told me, it is more evident that two plus two equals 4."

"Tell me one thing that I have that's properly diagnosed," I answered him with my voice still a bit hoarse and opened the chocolate to eat it.

"Touché, kid." Ziva cooed a little louder at that moment and distracted dad from me, making the old man smile radiantly and tickle her belly playfully. "Your nonna is coming with tea for you. I will have to leave with your brother after she arrives. I have to take care of some urgent business. I'm also leaving Rochu and the other five on guard, in case any paparazzi is stupid enough to sneak up here." He warned me, barely sparing me a glance, and kept playing with Blaze.

I munched on my chocolate bar distractedly while listening to my father and Blaze's noise, lost in thought of all the confusion that happened this morning.

What might have propelled Ray Ray to act like that this dawn? He had never attacked so many persons in a day up until we arrived in Sicily. The sea air might be getting to his head.

And that wave of reporters and paparazzi? Who tipped them that we were coming here? We had nothing scheduled, and no one else knew about this since it was a decision made in the sprout of the moment, so how could they know where we would be? Don't tell me they have been camping outside.

*Brrrgunff* An extremely weird, gurgling noise cut me off from my reflections, and nearly swallowed the sweet sound of Blaze's breathy giggles. Vin's green face gave away what the sound was, and the crippling scent that perfumed the air seconds later confirmed my suspicions. Blaze filled her diaper explosively.

I looked up from my lap and to my father, waiting to see if he wanted me to change her, but he only laughed at my brother's repulsed face and got up to change her himself.

At least he's an autodidact.

"With an expression like that, you will never win Hazel's heart." Dad taunted him, and Vin scoffed, looking very offended.
