SAGE'S POV

When I woke up, the scalp near my forehead was hurting. Someone had pulled my hair quite violently to make my head pound like this.

"A paparazzi tried to maul you just to take a picture of your face," Shauwn conveyed from my side, slurping on ice cream with one hand and holding our drooling godson in the other arm. "Uncle's jacket was on his way, though. He got quite a handful of your hair. But don't worry, the bodyguards made sure he didn't take any with him." I gave him a deadpan glare and massaged my head softly to alleviate the pounding.

As if I cared for a piece of hair. Someday, I'll shave it clean until I have a shiny bald head, and then I want to see their reactions.

Breaking News: Sin Sinner's daughter collapsed after getting ambushed by a swarm of reporters and paparazzi. - The TV across from me suddenly announced, and people quickly started discussing 'my case'.

"Doctor Storvani, tell us what you think about this case."- I listened with disdain.

"Well, Giulia, if it's true that the young lady has escaped human trafficking, I would dare say that health issues were to be expected. One never truly knows what happens to the victims inside those vicious rings. But the way the reports and paparazzi acted was shameful. They were worse than vultures."

"As we can see through the amateur recording in the local, the crowd of paparazzi and bloggers got so thick they weren't even allowing the ambulance to get through. The Sinner family had to resolve to harsher methods and threaten the crowd with loaded guns, going even as far as to shoot warning shots and after that not working, start hitting people."

"I can't say their behavior was adequate, but I also can't condemn them. I know for a fact that if that situation happened ten years ago, there would be deaths from that incident. We all know Sin-"

"Enough of that stupid show!" I shut off the TV and ignored Shauwn's groan. This cousin of mine is very invested in all kinds of gossip about our family, but shame on him because I won't put up with it just to please him.

Almost one month since I got discharged from here, and I've lost count of how many fucking times I've been rushed back!

"Mnhe, I'll watch it at home. On the brighter side, soon you won't have to deal with them anymore." I lifted an eyebrow at that and eyed him warily.

What the fuck does he mean with that?

"Grandpa pressed uncle to have the company's PR team release a statement we wrote about your case to the press."

"And how does that help anything?" Politics and I aren't a thing. It's either kill or not to kill. Survive or fight my way to guarantee survival.

There's no in-between. I walk on the darker side of life, and that's how life is for me.

"Basically, you gain the public's pity and support, and the population will turn against the paparazzi and reporters. Some people might go as far as helping you on the streets should they ever see you in distress." Damn. What kind of freaky mind control thing is that?

"Ok. Do as you want," It's not like I'm affected by the public's opinion. I just want them to leave me alone. "By the way, did you sue those bastards?"

"Of course we did. Vin went as far as searching for every clause of the law they broke and the respective punishments, fines, and victim compensation." My eyes widened at hearing that. "If he weren't an heir to the Sinner's domain, we would have a great lawyer in our hands." That gave me a bit to think. If my brothers liked something different from the gang and away from the mafia connections, why couldn't they pursue it? That was what Shauwn's words implied, but why?
