It's been two weeks since Veera arrived at the castle and most of it had been spent doing two things, wedding planning and exploring the castle grounds with Loki. He had very quickly become her best and only friend in the palace. Others tend to stay away from you when you're engaged to the future king of Asgard. Offending her could easily cost them their job and even their life. Veera had begun coming out of her shell around her third day in the castle, Loki found she had a very nice sense of humor and the most beautiful laugh to match. She was sassy and quite mischievous but it was 99% certain that she learned from the god of mischief himself.

Thor had yet to make an appearance but the All Father received a message that he and his four companions would be returning by dinner that night on account of Fandral being injured in battle. Odin told the rest of the royal family over breakfast and Frigga voiced that she would be having a few choice words with her eldest son. Veera however wasn't ready for her weeks of fun to be over, when Thor returned it would be all work and no play, especially with Loki.

"Are you excited?", Loki asked while peeking over his book, they were sitting on the balcony in the Royal Family wing.

Nobody had access to the wing but the royal family, their guests, and a handful of carefully selected staff. Veera looked over at the prince, his black hair barely peeking up over his book. He peeked his head up slyly only to quickly move it back behind his book when he saw that she was looking at him.

"Excited for what? Thor returning?", Veera asked as she stood up and sat her book on the edge of the balcony.

"Yes, you are going to be a married woman in two weeks almost to the day.", Loki put his book in the little pocket dimension he likes to keep his favorite things and grabbed a small handful of grapes from the bowl on the table.

Veera looked down at the private garden below, "I don't know how to feel, he left almost immediately after our betrothal was official. I know absolutely nothing. This month was about getting to know each other but instead he's running off fighting battles and I'm sitting here reading books on a balcony with you".

She smiled at him coyly and Loki chuckled and popped a grape into his mouth, "Now what's so bad about reading books with me on the balcony".

Loki tried to lean elegantly against the railing but he slipped and knocked Veera's book off the ledge. They looked at each other and were about to start laughing until they heard someone yell out. They jumped and looked over the railing to see Frigga and Thor, who had his hand on his head with an angry look on his face. They both look up to see Veera and Loki looking down on them trying not to laugh.

Loki burst out laughing and called to his brother popping another grape into his mouth, "Did that knock the sense back into your thick skull dear brother?".

"How about I come up there and knock some sense into your head little brother?", Thor shouted up at his brother angrily.

Frigga chuckled and bent down to pick up the book that assaulted Thor's thick skull, "Lady Veera I believe this belongs to you. I distinctly remember giving this to you yesterday at breakfast, I'm surprised you haven't finished it already".

Thor did a double take like he just realized that his bride-to-be was there alongside his brother. Veera looked like the personification of sunshine, she was smiling bright and her golden blonde hair surrounded her like a halo. She reached up and tucked a loose strand behind her ear.

"I've been a bit busy, I had a... spat with the wedding planner about a few small details but we've sorted it out. I needed a break so Loki offered to do some light reading on the balcony, it's an excellent read by the way."
