Hey guys! I'm back again with absolutely nothing to do and I'm dying inside 😗✌.

The night was getting steadily older and chillier as the boys made their way off the boardwalk and to one of the few parks in downtown Tokyo. The trees were draped in fairy lights, sending a glittering glow over the passers-by. The lights were reflected in the pond that Bokuto and Akaashi sat in front of. The bench beneath them was cold and Akaashi shivered slightly, wishing that he had brought that blazer with him.

Bokuto grinned happily at the ducks that quacked at each other in the pond and turned to Akaashi, pointing out two ducks that swam close to to each other. "Akaashi, look!" he said giddily. "That's like you and me! See, they're best friends, forever and ever. They'll never leave each other... will they?"

Akaashi looked at his best friend. Bokuto gleamed back at him and Akaashi melted. He loved the way Bokuto's never ending positivity could warm him even on the coldest days and how even when he was upset, Bokuto was always willing to see the good. Akaashi loved the way Bokuto said his name whenever he was excited and he loved the way his name sounded when it came out of Bokuto's mouth.

But he shouldn't. He shouldn't. Bokuto would graduate soon and leave him by himself. He would find a woman to call his own and a best friend who would be there with him through thick and thin. And that friend couldn't be him.

Bokuto would go on to join an amazing volleyball team and he would go on to take his degree in journalism. Volleyball and journalism don't exactly mix. That's what they've always said; that Bokuto and Akaashi were too different for their friendship to last. But so far, they'd defied the odds and remained best of friends.

But for years, Akaashi had felt something...different. And it sure as hell wasn't friendship. That something stirred inside his chest at this very moment, urging him to drag his eyes over to Bokuto and watch him as he laughed at the ducks in the pond, oblivious to Akaashi's inner thoughts.

Bokuto, meanwhile, noticed Akaashi's silence and cocked his head, staring at him. Bokuto's line of sight travelled down from Akaashi's face, coming to a rest at his neck. The little hairs on the back of his neck were standing up, goose bumps peppering his skin.

Bokuto's conscious told him, "Kōtarō! What are you doing! Your best friend's shivering beside you! Kōtarō, really. GIVE HIM YOUR JUMPER, YOU IDIOT!!!" Bokuto flinched, and apologised to his conscious.

Bokuto stood up, jolting Akaashi to his senses. Trodding over to face Akaashi, Bokuto motioned for Akaashi to stand up. Akaashi stood warily and said, "Bokuto-san, what are you-?" Akaashi's face turned red when he felt the heavy drape of Bokuto's hoodie around his shoulders, the smell of hot chocolate and vanilla ice cream enveloping him.

Bokuto twirled around to face Akaashi and zipped it up. Akaashi stared at Bokuto. His eyes that crinkled at the edges as he smiled. The soft droop of his hair as the gel faded away. And the reflection of the fairy lights on his pink lips. His lips. Akaashi's breath caught in his throat. No. No, this is wrong. He's your best friend; he doesn't feel the same way.

The hair on the back of Bokuto's neck tingled and he stopped fiddling with his hoodie. Bokuto rubbed the back of his neck and ran a hand through his hair, mussing it up even further.

This drove Akaashi over the edge. Every movement Kōtarō made sent goose bumps racing across his skin. Finally, he mustered up the courage to look him in the eyes. And he knew that what he was about to do was risky. It could put their entire friendship at stake.

But he couldn't hold back for one second longer.
