Twigs and Branches

Hey guys! I'm going through some serious writer's block and I've hit a road block. Yes, it's lovely. I do have one more pre written chapter for cases like these. I will continue this story though. Please vote if you like this so far!

The hallways of the third year building were empty as classes had already begun. The soft tapping of Bokuto's shoes filled the corridors and the boy passed the full classrooms by himself. As he trudged past his Chemistry class, Bokuto glanced inside to see Konoha and Komi giving him confused looks.

He gave them a sad smile and waved before walking away. Instead of going to his locker, Bokuto dumped his bag on a nearby bench and lifted his face to the sky.

It was beginning to brighten up; the harsh winds blew away the clouds and the sun glowed happily at him. Bokuto smiled right back at it and said, "You're right. I'll stop being gloomy too and we'll both have fun!" He skipped down to the Cherry Blossom Path where Komi, Konoha and occasionally Akaashi would hang out.

But today, the path was empty except for him and the petals of the blossoms were flying off, swirling through air. Bokuto laughed out loud and spun around, enjoying the feeling of the soft petals as they grazed his cheeks.

He laughed with the wind, whistling and darting through the trees as it swept up more and more petals.

Eventually, the wind calmed to a breeze and Bokuto slowed down, the dizziness making him giddy. He snapped to attention as he heard voices coming in his direction.

ARGH! Aoi must be here already! But why does she sound like that? She must have a cold. I'll make sure to make her some soup when we get home, Bokuto thought.

He didn't want to leave this magical place yet. He still wanted to play volleyball behind the basketball courts with Konoha and share his bento with Komi, who always brought delicious food.

Making a quick decision, Bokuto dived into a nearby bush and pulled his grey blazer over his hair. He tucked in his tie and crouched, waiting for his eldest sister to pass.

The voices were getting closer now and Bokuto wished Aoi would just hurry up and walk past; his belt buckle was starting to dig into his stomach. But soon he realised that there were two voices. There was a boy and a girl. Akaashi and Y/N.

He was about to jump out of the bush and ask them to hide him from his sister when Bokuto thought about the last time he'd hidden in a bush. Akaashi had scolded him for tearing his blazer and his shirt after they'd snagged on a wayward twig.

Bokuto really didn't want to face Akaashi's wrath today. So he waited quietly in his little bush as he watched Akaashi and Y/N saunter down the path.

He noticed how closely they stood and the smattering of red across Y/N's cheeks. He noticed the way Akaashi's lips curled up the sides when Y/N would turn away from him, hands flying as she tried to hide her flustered face.

He also noticed how he was getting frustrated at the idea that his friends were hanging out without him.

He knew that it wasn't fair, the way he expected to be included in everything Akaashi did. But the snide voice inside him was always whispering malicious things in his ear.

Bokuto sat in the dirt, tugging at his hair in frustration. Akaashi has his own life! It's his own business what he does in his spare time, Kōtarō. You can't be beside him every second of his day.

Akaashi and Y/N stopped in front of Bokuto's bush. Akaashi shuffled in place as Y/N looked around at the wilting cherry blossoms. The breeze picked up the stray petals and whirled them around her.

Akaashi admired Y/N as she giggled, eyes shining at the magic of it all. He watched as the breeze dislodged a stray hair from Y/N's (h/s).

Without thinking, Akaashi tucked it behind her ear, his finger brushing against her jaw. Y/N sucked in a sharp breath as she felt Akaashi stop and step closer. She watched as Akaashi ran his gaze over her, marvelling at the reaction she had to his touch.

It was as if every brush of his hand sent a bolt of lightning through her veins and Akaashi loved the feeling. A silence fell between them as they gazed into each other's eyes, entranced by the other, while Bokuto squatted in the dirt, fuming with something he didn't want to acknowledge. Jealousy.

Y/N stepped forward, the distance between her and Akaashi diminishing with every shallow breath they took. Her eyes fluttered closed; the last thing she saw was Akaashi, doing the exact same thing as he leaned closer. Y/N felt Akaashi's breath on her skin and her hands inched around his neck.

Meanwhile, Bokuto had closed his eyes, just wanting for Akaashi to walk away from Y/N and wanting these feelings of jealousy and anger to go away. Hearing the silence that had fallen up the Cherry Blossom Path, Bokuto opened his eyes and felt his heart drop to lay with the fallen petals in the dirt.

He took in the scene; Akaashi's hands on Y/N's waist and Y/N tangling her fingers in his hair, ready to pull him to her lips at any second. Bokuto was seriously considering bursting out of the bush to stop Akaashi from making this terrible mistake when the snap of a branch jerked the two second years apart.

Konoha and Komi stood at the start of the path. Konoha was holding a dry branch in his hands, broken in two.

"Whoopsies," he said, flashing a brief vacant smile. Komi hurried forward, the short boy slapping Akaashi back with enough force to make him splutter. "Hey Akaashi, why don't you help your awesome senpai carry some chem equipment to the lab, eh?" grinned Komi, dragging Akaashi along the path.

Konoha stalked up to Y/N, his hands in his pockets and studied her disdainfully. "You'd better get to class, my little kouhai. Wouldn't want to be stuck here on a Saturday, would you?" Konoha said, rather menacingly. Y/N gulped, and nodded fervently, scuttling away after she received another glare from Konoha.

Finally, there was no-one left. Konoha sighed and looked up at the grey sky. That girl was annoying. She was the type of girl to obsess over any guy with a pretty face and mysterious past. Konoha glanced at the cherry blossom trees and yawned.

"You can come out now, Kōtarō."

I'll try my hardest to come up with something soon, but the next part even I'm finding a little confusing. So I'll probably be inactive for maybe a week or so.
