Chapter 3
Celaena walked through the halls to the meeting rooms. Her cloak trailing behind her. She'd arrived early in hopes of avoiding attention from Aedion. He couldn't find out who she was. It would be deadly to the both of them.Making sure Chaol and the king knew she was there she hid in the shadows of the furthest pillar from the door. She knew she couldn't hide from Aedions sense of smell. But hopefully if he didn't make eye contact with her it would only confuse him further.
Dorian and Aedion arrived together followed by Duke Perrrington and Lord Westfall. The meeting was starting.
First they were going over pointless reports that Celaena tuned out of. Then they asked Aedion for reports of battles in the north.
The reports seemed a little exaggerated... the numbers a little off. But the king didn't seem to notice.
Aedions behavior was normal. His nose scrunched every once in a while when the breeze shifted but she was still hidden.
"Now. I have an announcement. We have a delegation coming in by the end of the month. They will be here to discuss trade and other useful information."
"Where's the delegation coming from?" Dorian asked.
The king gave his son a forced smile. That was anything but friendly. "Queen Maeve is sending her most trusted Fae warriors to us to begin discussions..."
Celaena drew in a quick breath. The sound brought Aedions attention to where she was. His face paled in shock. Before he could do anything though the king called her forward.
"Have you ever delt with the Fae, Champion?"
"Only ever Demi Fae."
She didn't know why the Fae would even seem coming to Rifthold. Especially after how the king had treated Fae. And the ones with magic.
"That's good enough. You'll be tracking their movements while here. Stay hidden. Do not let them know you're keeping track of them. You'll mainly be keeping track of Prince Rowan Whitethorn. Queen Maeves nephew."
"Yes your majesty." Then he sent her away.
Celaena was in deeper shit than she realized.
The Fae could scent her heritage. So she need to be extra careful. And be prepared....
