Chapter 15
Celeana POV
As she sat in the room she remembered the conversation between her old master and her first love.
Arobynn had been training her, her entire life not to take over the guild. But the kingdom. She wasn't his protégée, but another's.
He'd given the amulet she'd thought she lost back to her. As if she was still worthy of such a thing.
Sam was leading the rebels. Sam knew Nehemiah. Sam was working with the lords of Terresan...
Every horrible thing Arobynn has ever done to her, was a lesson, a lesson deeper than she originally thought.
Celeana even found out what happened the night of the capture. She'd gut Archer a thousands times over. She'd suffered a year in Endovier because he decided to take her out.
For now though. She had other fish to fry.
The door opened to reveal the Fae Prince.
Rowan POV
Rubbing his face he opened the door to his bed chambers. Looking up Prince Rowan Whitethorn was stunned speechless.
His mate was sitting in his desk chair her feet thrown all over his papers and reports. Mud slipping off the bottoms.
Snarling he glared at her. And of course she had an infuriating smirk plastered on her face.
"You know Prince. If you wanted your reports to your queen secret you'd write in a different language..." shocked she even knew how to read the old language she continued on. "Yes, what kind of kings champion would I be if I couldn't read and speak other languages. Especially the language of my ancestors. I could go straight to the king with these reports and you and your cadre would be imprisoned."
Scoffing Rowan gave her a smile big enough to show his k9s. "I'd like to see you try to get us in a cell."
"Oh itd be too easy Prince. Now remember, I am the greatest assassin in all of Erilea. You and the cadre wouldn't even know what hit you."
This. Child. Rowan stalked towards the desk and leaned over it till their noses practically touch. "You might be the best in Erilea. But you have nothing on me. Princess."
Rowan saw the fire flicker out of her eyes. "I'm not a princess. I haven't been a princess in over 10 years. I'm an assassin. And kings champion. But princess? No. Definitely not. Now I suggest you don't forget it. Prince." She got up to leave his chambers.
She easily glided out of his reach when he tried to grab her arm. The next thing he knew was that she had him pinned to the door frame with a dagger underneath his chin.
She had bested him. And was clearly willing to hurt him. Rowan started breathing heavily. She didn't feel the mating bond. She had no idea what they were.
"Prince Rowan. Do us both a favor and stop following me through the city. If you want to know what I'm up to, just ask."
And like his wind magic she was gone.
Aedion POV
Celeana killed Baba. This was not good. No doubt the king would have her in the receiving chambers. And they would most definitely smell her. She had a faint scent to her that marked her as a witch killer. And the brand of scars that were almost a necklace....
Aedion sat in her rooms waiting for her. Pippa, her handmaiden had already tried to shoo him away twice. But to no avail. Chaol, the Captain was having a mini heart attack. Lost Queens, the Fae, and witches all seemed to be getting to the Captain. He was more frazzled each time he saw him.
Aedion found it delightful. Dorian was only concerned about his father.
"You lot have got to stop ambushing me in my rooms." His twin flame came into her chambers.
Her nose had fried blood around it. She smelt of different smells from the city. And a strange mixture of almond, cheap soap, and pine. As if she'd made contact with three different males tonight.
"I've got bad news. And worse news."
She groaned. And motioned for him to continue as she started unstrapping her various weapons. It meant a lot that she was shedding a protective layer around him. Especially since if things had been in a perfect world he would have been her blood sworn. What a twist of fate.
So Aedion proceeded to inform her of the Coven of Witches coming. And that they were of that of Baba Yellowlegs.
"This will be so much fun. So what that the worse or bad news?"
"Bad news. The worse news is that the cadre have an unaccounted member floating around. Speaking of the cadre what are you going to do about prince Rowan?"
"I'll find this missing member. And what of the Prince?"
Aedion looked at her. She had no idea. No idea she was destined to be mated to the strongest Fae male.
"He's your mate... but since you aren't in your Fae form, it most likely hasn't snapped into place for you."
Celeana was already pale. But she looked ghostly white now.
