Chapter 18

Rowan POV

He ran down the halls to get to her rooms, he flung open the door to find the rooms empty. Fine he would have to head down to the catacombs then.

Down down down the stairs he went he followed her jasmine and lemon verbena scent. When he and Lorcan came this way before they came down the right hall. But her fresh scent sent him to the left. There was a giant smell of rot.

Rowan kept going, even when his very instincts told him to turn and run in the other direction. Then another smell hit him.

"Connall"

Of course his mate found their lost comrade.

He sprinted down the last few steps to a sight that almost made him drop to his knees. Connall was clutching his mate to his body.

Rowan saw red.

Scenting him Connall looked up. The dark twins face pales at the dead fury in Rowan eyes.

"Whitethorn-" Connall muttered. Still clutching Rowans mate. Rowan examined her, she had a pool of blood dripping from her nose. And she was pale as moonlight. Her firery eyes look at him through slitted eyelids. She let out a cough , that had blood spitting from her lips. "You need to heal her. Use your magic Rowan."

He'd get answers from Connall, but he was right. His mate came first. Rowan crouched down hands fluttering over her. She glanced back up at him. Pain laced her eyes and she fluttered them closed again. As Rowans magic healed her she turned into Connal more. Falling asleep. Connall glanced up at him, then sauntered over to the bed and placed the Heir of Fire in his bed.

His mate was covered in another males scent. His comrades.

"Explain now." He snarled.

"I think it's best to gather everyone, that way all the questions get asked at once."

Connall wasn't normally confrontational. Typically the dark twin did what was asked. Never spoke back. So Rowan agreed.

Making sure his mate was fast asleep and healed. They left the caverns, together he and Connall gathered Gavriel and Lorcan. Bringing them back to the place where Connal had been staying.

Rowan let out a string of curses as he entered the cavern. He'd rushed back down here to try and get some answers from her. But she'd disappeared. Again. Cunning creature. But infuriating.

"She could have at least made my bed." Connall muttered.

Lorcan rolled his eyes. No doubt marking whose scent was also here.

"Okay Boyo. Explain." Rowan commanded

Celeana POV

She waited till the Fae males left, then she slipped out of the covers. She had a rebel meeting to attend. Then she needed to visit the Vaults.

She slipped out of the sewer gate. And easily found her cousin and the other beautiful Fae twin. Celeana followed them across the rooftops. And she found herself in front of the building the rebels held Chaol in. So. She easily made the same leap through the same window as last time. And crouched down in the shadows to listen.

She knew Aedion knew she was there. Aedion clasped a man on his shoulders, then an older man. Off to the side Sam stood. Arobynn no where in sight.

The five of them sat and discussed magic, and how it could be released. Murtough was speaking on the way the birds flew in a straight line. Almost as if there was a triangle...but why would the king use a spell if he was so against magic?

Aedion started to speak. "I've met generals and sodikers in some of the taverns. One was from Noll, he spoke of a dark tower, just like the one at the castle." He posited to a map where noll was located. "Could it be possible he used the towers as focus points?"

She watched  Ren. Gods she had no idea Murtough and Ren had survived all these years. Could others have survived? Ren was tracing lines in the map.

"Amaranth." Ren said . "The other tower is in Amaranth."

A triangle. Surely if they took out one of the towers magic would released. And then they could defeat the king. Create a better world once and for all.

Celeana dropped of the second story directed behind Aedion and Ren. Her hood as slid off her head. And then she stood.

"We destroy the tower." She said. Looking each of them in their eyes she could tell they agreed.

Sam looked her over. "How? And then what? We don't have enough rebels that can fight."

"The Bane will fight. And I have magic welders in my  company. And we have the Heir of Fire."

All she could do was nod.

This she could do.

She would fight for a better world. Then she could live in peace.

Aedion Pov

He watch as the meeting concluded his cousin remained silent after she declared she would plan on how to destroy the tower. For she's been underneath it just months before. Then she sauntered out of the warehouse.

Beside him Fenrys had stayed quiet the entire time.

"Anything to contribute White Wolf?"

"You'll also have the cadre."

"What?" Aedion was stunned speechless.

Fenrys looked him up and down. Then to the others. To Sam in particular, then back to Aedion. "Considering the new developments with Prince Rowan he would want to fight. Therefore the cadre will fight with him."

4 out of the 6 most powerful Fae warriors. They easily alone would have been worth hundreds of mortal warriors. Turing any tide in any battle.

Aedion sat back and grinned.

Celeana POV

She made her way to the shadow market. There was a merchant she was ready to see. Once there the merchant flat out refused to speak to her, and the old man told her to leave she left to the vaults. Fumming. She needed to fight something and the pits in the vaults were perfect.

She knew she would find him here. Another person she was in search for. Approaching him there was a call for a fight and she volunteered herself and then challenged the man she was in search for. He gave her a smiled and accepted.

"Hello Lillian."

Giving him a small smile she whispered back to her opponent. "Nox."

Celeana struck out with her fist. Hitting Nox in the stomach. And the bastard grinned at her before he sent his own hit back at her.

Dorian POV
Dorian was having lunch with Chaol when Aedion found him. Claiming he had a test for Dorian.

"Just gotta make sure if we do this that it'll work." Then he explained the towers. And how Celeana wanted to destroy one to release magic.

Aedion sat three crystals on the floor of Dorian bedroom with a bowl filled with water in the middle. After Aedion finished with the salt he instructed Dorian to use his magic to freeze the water.

After severa minutes of trying since he'd just taken an iron tonic he finally succeeded. Then Chaol pushed a crystal over, effectively unfreezing the water.

"It worked. It actually worked." Aedion breathed. Aedion looked at him for once without any malice or hatred. But there was joy in the General princes eyes for once.

"A better world." Dorian whispered.

Aedion agreed. "A better world."
