Chapter 19
Celeana POV
Nox bought her an ale. In apology of the blow he'd landed to her lip splitting it open. In turn she bought him one for the bruise now blooming across his cheekbone. Those grey eyes shone in mirth as he took her in. Together they sat in the furthest booth in the back. With them dressed as they were and the patrons witnessing their fight, she doubted anyone would approach them.
But. She honestly wished someone would. She'd been aiming for a fights for days now... maybe she could go to the Assassins Keep. Maybe...
"So Nox, I thought you were supposed to be in Perranth?"
"Duty calls Lillian. Duty calls."
"What type of Duty?"
Grey eyes shone. He leaned forward. "Tell me, Champion. Why are you so interested?"
She leaned in as well. They were almost touching noses as she whispered back. "I'm trying to see where your allegiances lies. What side you're on. Because I need your skills."
The man. Nox Owen straightened. He smiled at her.
Celeana knew she had him then. And in return she gave him one of her real smiles.
Aedion POV
After finding the Prince and the Captian, and after the prince confirmed their suspensions. He accompanied Fenrys back to the wing given to the Fae Males. Aedion found out that Fenrys was infuriatting. Yet the male seem wise. Almost to wise for how old he was.
Aedion had grown up hearing stories of the Cadre. Fenrys had been the more wilder of the group. But seeing the male before him. He'd endured trauma. Maybe even the same type trauma that Aedion himself had endured. However that was a discussion for another time.
Together they entered the room Lorcan shared with Rowan. Fenrys stopped in the doorway. He was as still as the darkest part of the forests. Aedion could scent rage coming from the room within. And a hint of jealousy.
Aedion managed to peek over the blondes shoulder to see a dark haired Fenrys. Ah this must been the missing Fae. Connall. This would be interesting.
Aedion shoved his way through to the room only to find Rowan pacing in front of the dark twin. Lorcan and his father Gavriel stood off in the other corner. Monitoring the Princes movements. For the rage was coming off the prince.
"Why was my mate in your chambers? In your arms?" He asked with deadly calm.
But Aedion agreed. Why was she in his chambers? And how had she found the Fae.
"I didn't know she was your mate." The dark twin gritted his teeth.
"My scent is entangled with hers. Anyone with prenatural abilities would be able to scent that. Especially considering you have worked closely with me for close to a hundred years." Rowan snarled. His Fae ears tilting back.
"Mating bond chaffing Whitethorn?" Fenrys chuckled.
Rowan snarled so loud the room shook and he launched himself at the blonde twin.
"Fenrys. Gods damned fool." Lorcan was muttering under his breath as he tackled Rowan to the ground.
Fenrys knew what he was doing. Diverting the attention from his brother. Poking the bear. And it had worked. The blond snapped his teeth at the Prince in a playful act that sent Rowan in another fit of fury.
Gavriel came forward and asked a very important question to help reduce the tension in the small room too full with males. Most alpha males.
"Connall, why did Meave send you after us?"
