Chapter 10
Celaena POV

She supposed she couldn't avoid this conversation forever. But she was hellbent on it not happening anytime soon.

Anytime she saw a head of golden hair she walked in the opposite direction. But tonight was different. She had been charged to follow said blond haired brute. By Chaol. Of all people. The dear captain apparently still hadn't figured out her biggest secret. Even with Dorian fingering out the first night.

She had watched the hulking brute from across the pub he was hosting a party. Still playing the Wolf of the North. Ardalans Whore. Celaena took a sip of her own ale. By the time she was done Aedion had wondered outside with a pretty little red head.

She'd start learning his routine. He'd stay just long enough at the party to get everyone drunk then he would head out with a pretty little number. Where a few blocks down he would give her a handful of coins for their secrecy. Then he would send them off into the night.

Tonight Celaena would follow him all night long if she had too. Find out why he was going to such lengths to avoid detection.

She climbed to the rooftops to easily follow him. Her foot almost slipped on a loose piece of roofing. Making her curse. She then realized her mistake. Before she had the chance to hide his keen sense of hearing made him look to the rooftop. Spotting her.

The wind wasn't blowing so her scent was hidden. So Aedion tilted his head. Sniffing. But when he didn't get her scent he took off towards the closet sewer entrance then jumped down.

Celaena would most definitely not be following him down there. She'd find out what he was doing on a later night.

On her way back to the castle she could feel eyes on her. She ignored the feeling. Marching straight to Dorians tower she knocked on his door. He answered almost immediately.

Dorians blue eyes shook her to her core.

"Let's talk." He seemed to understand her.

What she was tasked with by Elena. She would share the burden.

They needed to free magic. For them. For their kingdoms. And for Nehemia.

Rowan POV

He was growing tired of following the heir. So tonight he would make his move. He stalked towards the rooms where he'd caught her sent.  With his Fae hearing he heard a faint heartbeat on the other side of the door. She was sleeping.

Rowan barged in the door without a second thought. The body jumped up from the bed. I'm just his trousers Rowan made eye contact with the Captain of the Guard.

"What are you doing?"

"You're with the heir?"

Still half asleep the Captain looked confused. "Dorian?"

"No. No. The Kings Champion.. "

"This isn't her room. This is mine. Now Prince Rowan. What are you doing in my rooms looking for Celaena?"

"That's none of your business." Her scent was all over this room. But he realized it was old. So she used to spend time here. A lot of time. "Were you involved with her?"

"I don't see how that's any of your business." The slight blush gave the captain away. "Now please leave. "

Rowan left without another word.

Chaol POV

Well he wouldn't be going back to sleep anytime soon. He held his fear in well. He wondered why the prince wanted from Celaena.

He called her the heir. The heir of what?

No. It couldn't be.

He thought back to the day she'd fled the city on the anniversary of her parents death.... The date of her snap at Endovier.

Quickly throwing on clothing he rushed down the library to hopefully find the royal chronicles.

But they all were missing. Even the genealogy reports... and he had a guess who had taken them. Hidden them...

Off to Celaenas room he went.

Aedion POV

Damn him. He was almost followed tonight. By a person he didn't couldn't recognize under the dark cloak. He thought about approaching the stalker. But it could have been one of the Fae. And even though he knew none rivaled him on this continent. He didn't want to test his skills against hundreds old warriors. He knew they wouldn't hold mercy for him even if one of them had sired him.

Aedion decided to finally go to her rooms tonight to just sit there. Wait for her all night if he had too.

Aedion made the finally turn in the underpassage to wind up at the entrance next to the rebel head base. He jumped out of the sewers. Found Ren at the entrance they both proceeded inside where he was shocked.

The two golden warriors were there. Fenrys Moonbeam. And Gavriel. His father. The Fae looked over too him. They were attending a rebel meeting. Why?

Aedion opened his mouth to ask that very question when he heard hurried footsteps. Turning just in time to see a brown haired man rush in. He was quite handsome.

Ren rushed to the man. "What is it Sam?"

"The kings guard are just a few blocks down. Heading this way. I came—" the man Sam looked at him. He visible blanched and cocked his head to the side in confusion. " you look familiar.."

A shout from a kinggaurd reached them. The rebels took off in different directions.

Sam looked at him again. Roaming over his eyes. His hair. Seeming to make a decision he said. "Follow me Ren. And you three. I have a safe house near."

Aedion figured this was his best best. So he followed the man. To a warehouse apartment in the slums.
