When You Were Mine: Joe and Katherine's Love Story (A Joey McIntyre Fanfiction)

Over the next couple of days Joe spends the days in the studio and the nights with Katherine. She's been letting him spend the night, which is completely against dorm rules, but she enjoys waking up with him in the mornings.

They make love at night and then again in the morning. It's getting better each time they're together. Things between them are easy and so comfortable. They seem to just fit, like two pieces of a puzzle. Not just sexually, but in every way. Katherine's feelings for Joe begin to grow and she falls in love with him. Her feelings finally catch up with his and she's so happy they finally found their way to this place together.

Two days before Joe has to leave to go back on tour, they're full into their nightly routine. Watching a movie, making out heavily, when Joe puts on the brakes.

"Katherine, we need to talk."

The look on her face almost breaks his heart. "Oh, Joe that doesn't sound good. Are we okay?"

He pulls her against his chest and squeezes her tight. "Yes, babe, everything is awesome with us. I've never been so happy. I'm just leaving in a couple of days and I thought we might need to talk about that. I wanted to see where you were with things and what you wanted to do while I'm gone."

"I want to be together. You're my boyfriend, I love you. I'll be here waiting for you to come back to me. I'm not going anywhere Joseph. If that's what you want that is."

Joe can't believe she's willing to wait for him. "Really? You're okay doing the long distance relationship thing?"

She kisses him and nuzzles into his side, under his arm. "Joe I'm more than okay with that. I know you'll be back and I know you love me. Plus I trust you. I know you won't do anything to hurt me while you're on tour. I just ask that we do our best to talk at least every other day."

Joe rolls over on top of her and positions himself between her legs after slipping on a condom. Without any words Joe makes love to her slowly. Keeping his eyes on her face. He watches her closely and memorizes everything about her. He doesn't want to forget a thing about her while he's gone.

When they're finished, Joe turns to face her. "I'm really happy you want to stay together while I'm on tour, but I don't think talking to each other every other day is going to work for me. I'm going to need to talk to you every day."

They laugh and talk the rest of the night. She tells him how jealous she is he's getting to travel around Europe while she's stuck here at school doing homework. "You're so lucky Joe."

Joe's smile fades. "It's not like I'll get to actually see Europe.  We'll see the hotels and the venues. That's about it. We're so busy with interviews and photo shoots all the time, we never get much down time. So don't be too jealous. And to make it worse, I'll be missing you the whole time."

This makes Katherine giggle. She finds it endearing that he'll miss her. She'll be missing him too. "How about we make plans for a really nice last night together tomorrow night? Do something really special."

"I'd really love that." Joe says as he yawns. "But first let's sleep. I'm dead tired love."

They fall asleep in each other's arms, both loving how natural it feels to be together like this.

The next morning after making love Joe gets up and starts getting dressed. "Tonight I'm taking you somewhere really special. So get dressed up in something sexy and I'll pick you up at eight o'clock. I love you." He kisses her on the lips and heads out the door.

Joe stops by his house to shower and get changed before heading to the studio.

"Joseph, where have you been staying every night?" Joe's mom asks as he tries to sneak out the backdoor.

Joe stops and turns to smile at his mom. "With a friend mom." He kisses his mom on the cheek and heads back to the door.

"Joseph?" Her voice is stern when she says his name this time.

"Mom do you really want to know? It's just going to upset you." She gives him a look only a angry mom can give. "Mom, her name is Katherine and we're dating. I've been staying with her this week. I love her Mom."

"Oh Joseph, you're too young to know anything about love. And you're too young to be spending the night with some girl. It doesn't look right son."

As much as Joe loves his mother, her outlook on things like this are very outdated. And it doesn't help him any that he's her baby. He doesn't think she'll ever let him grow up if it's up to her. But he is growing up, there's no stopping it now.

"Mom trust me no one knows about it. We're very careful. I go from the studio to her dorm room and no one even knows I'm there."

Mrs. McIntyre rolls her eyes at her son. "Oh seriously Joseph, she lives in a dorm?"

"Yes mom she goes to Harvard. She's a freshman and she lives in the dorm. And I do love her, very much."

"Joseph Mulrey McIntyre you couldn't possibly know this girl well enough to love her. You've only been home a week. Look son just be careful and I want you home tonight. You need to spend the night here tonight. I want to spend some time with you before you leave again."

Joe agrees and kisses his mom again. But before he can leave he's got to set one thing straight. "Mom, I didn't just meet Katherine. I've known her since I was twelve and I've loved her since then too. She's the only girl I've ever felt this way about. And it's not ending anytime soon. So you're going to have to get used to me having a girlfriend. Love you mom."
