Kornelia and Parker dated for a while a few months ago. The golden couple, a match made in heaven. It was perfect. Holding hands while going to class, kissing in the hallway, watching the sunset together, stargazing - everything an ideal couple would do.
They both thought they knew each other so well - maybe too well - but when they started dating, a whole new side of them showed.
The perfect play, which everybody loved to see, quickly became a much darker reality.
They still acted like a perfect couple, but when they weren't in public it was much different - it was all fake. All the constant arguing was mentally draining for both of them.
Kornelia was always unintentionally starting fights. She didn't like fighting with Parker - after all, she did love him - it was her attitude problems that made her cause them. She knew how much this relationship was hurting both Parker and herself, but when he walked in she felt like she was loved and complete, even if it wasn't in the best conditions, that relationship still meant something to her.
She loved the way it hurt, for some strange reason.
On the other hand, Parker has a tendency to emotionally manipulate others and be very aggressive. He tried to avoid yelling at Kornelia because he knew she would just do the same. Their fights would make him so exhausted, he knew they were both hurting by it, but he just couldn't make himself let her go. He loved Kornelia, she understood him and every time he was with her, she made him feel something.
All of those toxic traits are what made the stay, they couldn't let go of each other, because in the end, they created one another.
How can they quit when they were on the top, with the title of the "it couple", the couple everyone knew and loved, even if their hearts screamed stop?
They fought about basically everything. They knew how to push each other's buttons. They took a break for a while but went back together because they depended on each other. They were great actors in their own original play, "To keep going or to stop", they asked themselves every day, in which they decided to "keep going".
Sometimes after they had fought, Parker just stood there watching how Kornelia crumbled and quietly sobbed, not knowing what to do, since he caused her this pain. He hated watching it, but he knew he had to keep his distance. Kornelia was tired of the lies and the suffering loving him caused her, but she couldn't bring herself to end the relationship.
He screwed her over so much, but so did she and that's why we can't say only one was in the wrong. He knew what he did, and so did she, they just kept believing two wrongs could eventually make a right.
Parker was trying so hard to convince himself that he didn't need her love and that he could end that pain and suffering with only a couple of words, but it's easier said than done.
Kornelia was losing herself, she was stuck in that endless cycle of bad habits and arguments. Their friends noticed how it was affecting both of them, but they didn't know everything that was going on behind closed doors.
At least in this lifetime, it's him and me together. That is what Kornelia always thought.
They were so helpless, but they thought, maybe a little more time can make it all better, let's just say, it didn't
Both of them were convinced they were soulmates, but then realized soulmates don't always end up together, right? At least that's what they told themselves, to make moving on easier. They knew one day they would have to stop, but she was his world, he just didn't know how to bring back what they had.
One day they decided, they had to unmask all the lies and false charades and - finally - end the world's favorite love story.
