First Day Of School

That year seemed to go by surprisingly fast and school was only a few short weeks away and (Y/N) was somewhat excited, mostly because once school started the previous year she had been mostly alone at daycare except for one other kid. Sure she wouldn't be there the whole day since it was just pre-K but it was a start. She was happy and excited and asking all sorts of questions about what it would be like, she knew she would be older since Owen wanted to give her a year to get used to normal life so she was 6 while the other kids would be 5. She was all worked up about it until the first day actually came around, then she didn't wanna go.

"Come on, you've been so excited," Owen said still trying to get her out of bed.

"I don't wanna go," (Y/N) whined.

"I promise it won't be that bad," Owen reassured her.

"How do you know?" (Y/N) asked.

"Because I did it once too," Owen answered, crossing his arms.

"Yeah but that was like a thousand years ago," (Y/N) complained.

He just raised an eyebrow at her before replying unenthusiastically, "I'm not that old."

She still refused to move so he started to try and make a deal with her, "Okay, I'll make a deal with you, you go to school and you can have breakfast in bed this weekend."

"Okay!" (Y/N) said happily.

"Well if I woulda known it was that easy," Owen mumbled to himself, "Get dressed or you're gonna be late."

Once again she became excited about the day until it came time for him to leave her with more kids than she had ever been around her entire life.

"You know what, I don't want breakfast in bed, we can go home now," (Y/N) said nervously.

"Too late, you'll be fine," Owen reassured her.

"I really don't think I will be," (Y/N) countered.

He got down to her level, "Do you remember how scared you were to meet the Raptors?"

She nodded her head.

"And how you didn't you want to leave once you finally did?"

Again she nodded her head.

"That's what this will be like, and if I'm wrong then I owe you whatever you want next time we go to the store," Owen assured her.

"Okay, you're coming back for me right?" (Y/N) asked.

"Of course I am," Owen replied.

He watched her go and suddenly he wasn't sure if he wanted her to go but he knew she needed to and eventually left. On his lunch break, he came back for her and took her to daycare, the whole drive there, granted it was short, she was kept talking about how fun it was.

"Okay, by Daddy," (Y/N) said getting out of the car.

He never even got the chance to say anything, he said all of 3 words the whole time. He finally got the rest of her story when he picked her up from daycare a few hours later.

"So, you had fun," Owen said as she finally finished her story.

"Yeah!" (Y/N) replied enthusiastically.
