Moving On

Joon's POV

Weeks have passed but Massie still haven’t heard from Chan. I'm already tired of seeing her crying and waiting and hoping that the other will somehow contact her. I know she's sick of it too so she gave up. She thought that maybe there’s really no chance for them.

“Massie, you’ve been crying for weeks now.” I worriedly talked to her.

“Don’t worry. I won’t cry anymore. I’ll try my best to forget him.”

“I think that’s the best you should do. Just remember that I’m always here for you.”

Months gone by, Massie slowly forgot about Chan. It’s difficult from the start but things got easier with my help. I did everything I can just to make Massie the happiest person on earth whenever she’s with me. We go out more than twice a week to watch movie, we treat each other to eat outside, and we talked every night before going to sleep.

It’s not hard for us to get closed easily for we agree on almost everything. This is one of the reasons why I developed my feelings towards her.

It’s a weekend and I have a big plan today. I contacted Massie earlier that I will pick her up later. I've been preparing for one week already and the other didn’t have any idea. Now, it’s been five years already since she accepted my heart.

Soon, we finally arrived at the amusement park. Massie can’t hide her excitement because it’s our first time going here. She dragged me to different rides. Time seemed to fly too fast and it’s getting dark already. I was tired already but seeing that she was very happy satisfied me.

“Mie, let’s ride on that!” I, this time, asked her to try the Ferris wheel.

“I want to try that too!” Massie’s energy was still high.

We rode on one, she was getting excited again while I'm getting nervous on the other side. When we reached the highest peak, the ride suddenly stopped which made her in panic.

“Mie, don’t worry. I planned all these.”

“What do you mean?”

“I have something to tell you.” I let out a sigh, “Remember the first time we met?”

“You mean when you tried to jump off the bridge?”

“No it’s not. You fainted on the road that day and I took you to the hospital.” she was shocked with that and wasn’t able to speak.

“The first time I saw you, I noticed that there was something in your eyes. Something like, sadness. I wasn’t sure that time but I got attracted to you. That night when you saw me at the bridge, I wasn’t planning to kill myself. Like you, I was there to breathe some fresh air because I can't take to listen to my parents' fight again.” I continued explaining while she just paid attention.

“I was very happy that time when you asked me to be your friend. And I feel blessed because we lasted for years. Those days I watched you cry, I want to take away all the pain you’re going through. Whenever I see you smile, I want you to just stay like that which made my feelings for you grew little by little. I was the one who fixed that heart that’s why I wanted to protect it even more. Seeing your beautiful eyes and smile every day, I wish I could see them forever.” I took a deep breath.

“But I don’t want to be your boyfriend anymore.” I can see tears started to form on Massie’s eyes. With my thumb, I gently wiped those tears.

“Why are you crying?”

“I thought you love me? Then why are you breaking up with me?” she cried completely.

“Shh. Who said I am breaking up with you? Let me finish first okay?”

I knelt down in front of her and took out a small box from my pocket. My next words made Massie’s heart skipped a beat.

“Will you marry me?” I asked nervously.

I wasn’t expecting what happened next. A simple yes will be enough for me but to my surprise, Massie cried even more and suddenly gave me a sweet kiss on the lips. She hugged me tightly.

“You know that you made me happy every single day. Please continue taking care of me in the future!” we can’t hide the happiness we’re feeling that moment. I hugged her even tighter, not wanting to let her go. Our emotions became more colourful when fireworks started to fill the sky.

“I always will. Please stay by my side from this day onwards.”

“I won’t leave you, I promise.”
