The typical morning sounds of melodic tweets of songbirds woke Joon up. His eyes slowly opened but he can’t feel his legs while his back and neck ached a bit. He stretched out his arms above his head and he was surprised when Massie moved. That’s why he can’t feel his legs, was because Massie made them her pillow. Joon smiled as he watched his angel wrinkle her nose in her sleep.

Massie awakened with soft touches as the other brushed his hand to fix her messed up hair. She was greeted with a smile from Joon. Few more minutes passed before she finally got up.

“Let’s prepare breakfast.” Massie asked the other as she offered her hand.

“I can’t get up. My legs are still numb.”

“Oh I’m sorry! Is my head heavy?”

“No, no. I just had a wrong position.”

“I’ll be making our breakfast. Let’s just eat here.” Massie said then ran downstairs.

It took her thirty minutes to finish cooking and making coffee. After placing the plates at cups on a tray, she went up thinking that Joon must be very hungry already. But as soon as she entered their room, she found no one inside. She checked the bathroom first because she should know if the other went downstairs but the door was locked.

“Hon are you inside?” Massie started knocking.

She was even more scared when she received no response. Suddenly, few coughs can be heard from the other side and she knew Joon was there.

“I-I’m fine.” The other answered with a hoarse voice.

“Please open the door. Let me in.” she kept knocking and twisting the doorknob.

“I’ll go out in a moment.”

But few minutes passed and the other still not opening the door. Massie panicked when she heard a loud thud from inside. She looked for a spare key of the bathroom and she found one in a drawer of the bedside table. As she finally opened the door, she found Joon lying on the floor. He was unconscious and some blood stains can be found on the sink.

His head still hurts when Joonmyun awakened. He found himself in the hospital. He tried to remember what happened when the door opened.

“You’re awake. How do you feel now?” Massie asked as she placed a basket of fruits on the table.

Joon's not blind to not notice how red the other’s eyes were. He wasn’t sure about it but Massie must already know about his condition.

Joon was diagnosed with leukemia since his health became poor that time when his wife was in coma. Because he stayed in the hospital and his body grew weaker, he easily got the disease. It’s been a month already since he knew about it but he never told anyone, not even his family. He thought his illness will slowly get better since Massie got out from the hospital but things seemed to be not working for him. His condition even worsens faster as a result of pain and over fatigue.

His heart ached when the other broke by crying again.

 “I-I’m sorry.” tears started to roll down her face again.

“I told you already to stop saying that right? Stop crying. I don’t deserve those tears.” Joon signalled Massie to come closer and sit beside him.

“You’re suffering because you didn’t pay attention to yourself. And I’m the one to blame.”

“No, I just chose to take good care of you because you’re too precious.” Joon calmly explained while wiping the other's cheeks.

Massie was choked with tears. Her heart was torn seeing how the other’s great love for her caused great pain. She can’t understand why Joon kept his illness to himself. She can’t feel anything to herself but guilt. She’s bad, really bad. How could she do that to someone who showed nothing but love for her? How could someone love her like that after all the hardships she brought to his life? Her heart stopped when Joon smiled at her.

“Please don’t cry anymore.” Joon held her hands.

She’s now certain about her feelings. It’s not pity or kindness. She felt really stupid for not realizing that earlier, when everything was still fine, when everything was not as worse as their current situation.

She loves him. Massie loves Joon.

She smiled, thinking that she could still fix and right her mistakes.

And her decision is final.
