Memories Part 2

Author’s POV

“Can I have breakfast with you guys?” Chan asked enthusiastically.

Joon was flustered inside but he didn’t show it. He was worried that Massie might have built a negative impression of him. Although he was feeling uncomfortable with his wife’s first love around, he didn’t have any choice but to let the other join their first breakfast at home.

“Have a sit. Do you want coffee too?” Massie offered after a few moments of silence.

“Well, if you insist.” Chan replied with a playful smile which made the other blushed.

Massie ran right away to the kitchen to make his coffee. It’s obvious that she became more energetic since Chan arrived. She completely changed all of a sudden and forgot about his husband at that time being. When she got to the table, she can sense great tension between the two. Massie noticed that Joon’s expression shows anger but the other one was just smiling.

“What are you guys talking about?” Massie asked out of curiosity.

“Nothing. Thanks for the coffee.” Chan then pulled the chair for the other to sit down.

“Joon, nice house huh?” the other started the battle.

“It’s my parents’ gift for our wedding.” Joon answered, keeping a straight face.

“I want to have one like this someday. I bet it’s better to live in this house with the one you love rather than alone.” Chan teased while looking at Massie.

“Erm, I’m hungry. Let’s eat first.” Massie changed the topic due to the weird atmosphere.

And with that, the three started to have their breakfast. But the peaceful morning that Joon prepared for the two of them turned into a disaster. He can see what Chan is up to. The worse thing was, the other wanted to play a game which Joon is really bad at.

And so, Chan smirked upon seeing Joon’s expression. He gets bacon and egg and placed them on Massie’s plate. She didn’t have an idea of what’s going on so she just accepted it and thanked the other. Massie asked Chan to stay longer so they can talk more but the other had some work. So after they ate, he immediately took his leave. Massie sent him outside and Joon was left to get the dishes done.

“Are you free tomorrow?” the guy asked.

“Hmm… I think so.”

“Is it okay for you to walk outside in your condition?”

“The doctor said that it’s better if I could breathe in some fresh air since I stayed in the hospital for almost a month.”

“Fine, I’ll just call you later.”

After Chan left, the two stayed at the living room to have chitchat. Joon got their photo album and started reminding Massie the stories behind those smiles and laughter. He carefully told every single event in full details. He was even felt happy to recall all their captured moments together.

Massie really appreciates the efforts of Joon. Seeing the other like that makes her want to recover all his memories back quickly. She was amazed with the fact that, the things she thought she had never done before were actually part of her past already.

She was startled as she heard some sobs from her side. When she looked at the other, Joon suddenly turned his head away and carefully wiped his tears.

“This was our fifth year anniversary and also the day when I proposed.” The other started to explain.

“Oh, I’ve already rode a Ferris wheel?”

“Hmm. I still remember you’re very excited when I asked you to ride with me on that. And when we got on top, it suddenly stopped and you panicked. I can clearly picture your expression when I told you I can’t be your boyfriend anymore.”

“But why did you say that?” she curiously asked in her confusion.

“To tell you I want to be your husband.” Joon shyly answered.

Massie could feel her cheeks grew warmer as it started to show a soft tint of redness. She was lost in her thoughts when suddenly, her phone rang.

“Hello?... Ah yes… Okay… Hmm I got it… Okay bye!”

Joon noticed that Massie was especially excited upon answering the call. After the other hung up, he asked her.

“Who’s that?”

“Oh it’s Chan. He invited me to take a walk tomorrow.”
