Author's POV

Massie slid off the curtains sideward to let warm sunlight enter the room that made Joon woke up. It’s his second day at the hospital. Even though the other didn’t want to, Massie insisted that he should stay in the hospital and signed for his confinement.

“Good morning.” she greeted the other.

Joon opened his eyes a bit and rubbed them using the back of his hand like a kid. The first thing he saw was an angel smiling at him so he smiled back. Massie's skin aglow as the sunbeam strikes her milky white skin.

“Good morning. You look beautiful.” Joon managed to compliment his wife.

He certainly knows what to do to let Massie show some touch of cherry red on her flawless cheeks. Joon chortled in the fact that until now, his wife is still not used to his cheesiness. It’s just heartrending to think that he doesn’t have a chance to see that for forever. He snapped out from his deep thoughts when Massie sat on the space at the edge of his bed.

“What are you thinking?

“I’m just keeping a picture of your smile deeply in my memory. I’m afraid that I won’t be able to see that when you left.” Joon smiled as if sadness was not lingering in his eyes.

It’s not the time to deny things.  He promised himself to make their remaining time together, a valuable one. He needed to be honest to her so he wouldn’t regret things again.

Massie repeatedly ran her fingers through Joon's hair while listening to his explanation. She just let out a sigh before she smiled after hearing his last words. Massie shifted her body down, leaning closer to the other as their heads closed to each other side by side. The next words of Massie made his heart skipped a beat.

“I made up my mind. I won’t leave you anymore.” Massie whispered softly to the other.

Joon's eyes widen and his mouth hanged open upon hearing what the other uttered. He felt something between confusion and happiness. Silence aired the room after that that lasted for a minute as they just stared at each other.

“Can you say it again? I-I’m a bit confused.” Joon asked while controlling his heart and preparing his mind to slowly process everything the other has to say.

“Listen very carefully okay?” Massie smiled again and then cupped Joon's face with both hands. The other just nodded and hummed in compliance.

(A few days ago)

“Babe? Why did you call?”

“Chan, I’m tired of your childish plays. You wanted to ruin our marriage but what are you doing right now?” Massie shook her head in disappointment as she watches not too far away, a certain guy flirting with some girl in a coffee shop.

“W-what do you mean?” Chan asked nervously as he wandered his eyes around the place.

“I’m thankful it’s not too late yet. Don’t bother me anymore.”

“Babe-” but before he could finish to say anything, Massie hanged up as her voice was replaced with continuous beeps.

As soon as he spots a familiar girl who was about to walk away, Chan ran off to her. He tried to stop the other by grabbing her arms only to find Massie's eyes full of anger. The other’s expression made him taken aback as his grip momentarily slacken off.

“What do you want?” she faced him, raising a brow.

“Uh…” Chan can’t look at the other straight, “I-I can explain.”

“I know. I know you can explain.” She pulled back her hand harshly, “But I don’t need to hear your stupid reason this time.” Massie wasted no time and walked away, leaving the taller guy frozen in his place.

“So, I don’t need to sign those papers anymore?” Joon can’t explain his feelings. He still can’t believe what’s happening.

Massie pressed her lips against his as an answer. No words are needed that moment. Joon didn’t notice his eyes began to get soggy. Tears swiftly stream down his face in bliss. He enveloped his wife around his arms, not wanting to let go of her.

“Thank you hon!” Joon cried out.

“No, thank you for making me realize things. If not because of you, I might be suffering later from a stupid mistake again.”
