It was Thursday evening at an almost empty bar.

Mac was texting his beau. Asking if he would be there soon. He wanted him to hang out with the gang again before leaving for Arizona tomorrow.

Brandon
Be there in 5!

Mac
Ok see you then

"Who are you texting?" Dee asked already knowing the answer.

"None of your business," replied  Mac with feigned anger unable to hold off his smile.

"How's it going with you guys?"

"Good,"

"Is he coming? On our road trip?"

"Yeah, he is," Mac smiled.

"Who's coming?" asked Dennis as he walked to where Mac is sitting on a barstool.

"Mac's boyfriend,"

"He's not my boyfriend Dee,"

"Well, he's a boy and he's your friend,"

"Dee, By that definition that would make Dennis my boyfriend," Mac argued.

"Me? Mac's boyfriend. No way," Dennis scoffed.

Mac didn't like the disgust present in Dennis' voice.

"Yeah no way dude, you're not my type," Mac said trying to hurt Dennis as he hurt him.

"What do you mean he's not your type?" Dee asked.

"Yeah, how could I not be your type?" Dennis questioned.

Mac doesn't have an answer because he had lied. Dennis was his type. He had been his type ever since they met in high school.

"You two are like obsessed with each other, I honestly thought you would end up together,"

"Well, we won't Dee because I'm straight," Dennis replied.

"And because I have a boyfriend Dee," Mac blurted.

"I thought you said he wasn't your boyfriend,"

"Well, we haven't had the talk. But I'm sure we will have it any day now,"

They sipped their beers in silence.

The door to the bar opens and in walked Brandon.

"Hey guys," Brandon smiled.

"Hi," Dee chirped.

Dennis stayed quiet and gave Brandon a curt nod.

"Hey sweetheart," he greeted Mac placing a kiss on his forehead.

This is the second time he's called him "sweetheart."

Mac always thought pet names were stupid and only for chicks but hearing the affectionate words come from Brandon's mouth makes him change his mind immediately.

"Hi," Mac greeted him with a giddy smile.

"So, what are you guys up to?" Brandon asked.

"Just drinking, you want a beer?" Dee asked.

"Sure, thanks," he replied.

Dee handed him a cold one from her position behind the bar.

He sat on a stool next to Mac.

"How's your day been?" he asked softly.

"My day? It's been great! I hit a new PR at the gym during my chest press!"
