Chapter Three

I

[Two weeks before Casey's disappearance]

"You don't practice enough self care." Casey frowned, using a silicone brush to spread green goop all over Will's face. He groaned at the coldness of it.

"Is this really necessary? We could've just gone to the spa or something instead of doing it here at home."

"Nobody's gonna treat you as well as I do, baby." Casey grinned, setting aside the jar and silicone brush. She carefully placed two slices of cucumber over his eyes, stepping back to admire her handiwork. "There. Now in about fifteen minutes, we can go rinse that off. And you'll get moisturizer and rose water. It'll be good for your complexion."

Will simply chuckled. "I've never even cared this much about my face in my entire life, and yet here you are, talking about pores and vitamins and whatnot." Casey simply giggled, plopping down next to him on the couch. "Admit it. Secretly you like that I am taking time off my very busy day to be taking care of you after you saw some pretty heavy things." She leaned into him, sighing. "Sometimes I feel like...you're doing more than what they're asking you to do. You really need to take it easy, Will. Let someone else take your workload for the day. Maybe we could go to the beach- or on a proper date. We haven't had a proper date in AGES."

Will simply chuckled. "I wish I could."

"You guys alter reality, how much can your workload even be?" Casey frowned as she looked away, deep in thought for a few moments. "It almost seems like...they're making you alter more things than usual lately. I've noticed this at work too...there's many errors- and not simple fixes either. These are complex, and most of them take me hours to fix. I can't help but wonder if...there's some ulterior motive to keeping us busy lately. Oh look, fifteen minutes. You should probably rinse that off."

Will stood, and went to the bathroom to rinse off the face mask. He came back soon after, settling back down next to Casey, wrapping his arms around her. She snuggled into his chest, sighing.

"You worry too much, Casey. Don't speculate too much about why they're making us work more-" he looked down into her deep blue eyes, smiling. "How about we go on a date right now? We could go to the lake and have a small picnic. And then we can get ice cream and go for a nice walk. How does that sound? Clearly the both of us need to get our minds off of things so-"

Casey smiled. "That sounds wonderful actually. A picnic by the lake sounds wonderful after a long day. Spending time with you is the best way to unwind." Will leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips, causing her heart to flutter. She giggled. "Okay okay, I'm going to get ready before this turns into a night of staying in and watching cheesy romantic movies on netflix." She untangled herself from Will and stood up. Will laughed. "And what's wrong with romantic movies? You're usually not one to oppose The Notebook." he asked, teasing her.

Casey grabbed a pillow and chucked it at his face, earning a small "oof" from him in response. "I promise I'm fine, Dr. Taylor. I just would much rather talk to you, rather than stare at a screen for two hours. We've watched too many movies lately anyways. I'm gonna need glasses if we keep this up any longer."

"Point taken." Will chuckled, standing up from the couch and stretching. "Alright, will you be ready in ten? We need to leave soon if we want to watch the sunset together too."

"Okay, okay, I guess I can hurry up just this once." Casey smiled and lightly jogged to the bedroom. Will shook his head and chuckled. "That girl is something else..."Ten minutes later, Casey came out and Will whistled, earning a blush from Casey in response. "You flatter me, sir." she giggled and kissed his cheek. "You're such a dork, you know that?"
