Half Way

Josh exhales as he was slowly starting to wake up while he saw Maya still fast asleep next to him. Both of them have lately been sleeping in a lot lately especially since Josh didn't need to work and most of Maya's classes are only in the afternoons. He had smiled while he got out of bed and got dressed immediately hearing his computer go off in the kitchen.

"Dad, how are you?" Josh asked.

"Joshua, we need to discuss you taking over the business," Alan said as Josh had exhaled.

When Josh had gotten his degree in Education Alan was definitely keen on letting him start at the business. Although he was proud of what Cory did, didn't he think it was the right decision for Josh. It had obviously caused a lot of fights between him and his son but Alan had still felt strong about doing all of it.

"I told you, Dad, I'm not going to take over the business. That's not my place. It never will be. I'm happy where I am right now plus I've got Maya. And she needs me," Josh said.

"Maya Hart can take care of herself. She has her mother and your brother to take care of her. She doesn't..."

"Father. I know you weren't on board with the idea of my relationship with Maya. You've never been but right now this is what it is. I'm with Maya and I'm happy," Josh said.

"Until she starts throw accusations around about you being her father," Alan said as Josh exhaled seeing as Maya came out of their room.

"Dad, I gotta go. Send love to Mom. Bye. Sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up," Josh said as he shut his computer.

"It's okay. I anyway hade a class a little later. Is everything okay with your father?" Maya asked as Josh wrapped his arms around her body gently kissing her forehead.

"Everything is fine. Tea?" Josh asked as he had put the kettle on.

"Josh, you don't have to pretend. I know your father dislikes me," Maya said as Josh exhaled.

"It's his own problem if he doesn't agree with our relationship. He and my mother are anyway also 3 years apart in age. Well he better get used to it. Especially since you're giving him a grandchild and becoming his daughter-in-law," Josh said as Maya smiled placing her hand on her stomach.

"Today is 20 weeks. Half way," Maya said.

"Only 20 more weeks until we meet our beautiful baby," Josh said.
