"I still can't get over how small he is. He's absolutely precious," Maya said as Josh looked at his fiancé.
"Yeah, he is. Maya, you know what time it is, right?" Josh asked as Maya looked at the calendar.
"Yeah, I know. That doesn't mean I'm ready though," Maya said.
"You knew that this day would one day come though. We'll be fine," Josh said.
Today was Riley's 19th birthday and although Maya has been avoiding the chance to tell everyone about her pregnancy, she knew it would be worse to tell them about their son and the engagement. Maya had exhaled as she held her son in her arms while Josh had gotten everything ready for their trip out. Maya looked at Noah dressed in his blue cozy jumper while she had smiled at her sweet boy. She had shaken her head while she grabbed his blanket and wrapped it around him as she saw how her fiancé was waiting for her at the door.
"It's time," Josh said as Maya nodded and headed out of the door.
With the drive to the Matthews' residence, Maya had constantly thought what would happen in the time they were in at the moment. Yes, they were in a pandemic, and she had welcomed a baby. But what Maya didn't think about was how everything that she had kept a secret would influence everything for her and for everyone around her. As Josh had stopped the car in front of the apartment complex, Maya had gotten out and put Noah in his stroller before the two of them gathered everything that they might need and headed into the complex.
Riley Matthews was excited to see people again. She was a social butterfly and whatever she had done, she did with lots of people including her best friend. Maya and Riley were inseparable through their whole school careers as well as when they were younger. But when college started and the pandemic broke lose, both had to go their own ways for awhile. Although, they did try to keep contact their programs never made it possible, so they lost contact. For Riley it was like her best friend had moved to a different continent and when Riley had heard that Maya was going to visit them, she was excited.
"Are you sure you guys are ready to face all of this? You and Maya haven't seen each other in awhile. Who says it will be the same?" Lucas asked as Riley looked at her boyfriend.
"Oh, shut up you," Riley said, not wanting to hear what he had to say as she heard the door bell.
Riley had exhaled as she saw how her mother opened the door and everyone looked shocked at Maya and Josh, who came into the apartment with a stroller. Riley looked at Lucas, afraid that things would indeed change, as Maya had smiled.
"Hi, guys," Maya said as Riley smiled and went over to her best friend.
"Definitely worth waiting awhile. Who is this?" Riley asked as she looked into the stroller and found a baby boy.
"Guys, who is this?" Cory asked approaching his daughter and brother.
"Everyone, we would like you guys to meet..." Maya said as she got her son out of he stroller.
"Noah Gabriel Matthews, our son," Maya said as Riley immediately melted.
"I have a cousin?" Riley asked.
"I have a nephew!" Cory said as everyone laughed.
"Yeah. Wanna hold him, Riley?" Maya asked as Riley had nodded and gently took the baby in her arms.
"Hi, Noah, hi," Riley said as Maya smiled.
"I was also wondering if you would be his godmother," Maya said.
"Of course. Look at him, Luke," Riley said as Lucas smiled.
"Absolutely cute," Lucas said as Maya smiled at her friends' reactions.
