Chapter-1 Knight in Shinning Armour
"Miss, it's our closing time," I was drawn back to the reality. A tall guy, almost my age, with ocean blue eyes, stood next to me with a bunch of books in hand. He had a sun-kissed complexion which was complimented by his raven hair.
I hadn't realized what he said until he repeated, "We are closing," in his thick Spanish accent.
"Oh," I took a quick glance at my watch before gathering up all my stuff. "I'm just leaving, could I borrow these?" I held out a couple of books that had kept me engrossed for nearly three hours.
"Of course," he said as he grabbed the books and started walking towards the counter , with me right behind him.
"You need a membership."
"Sorry..?"
He smiled at my absentmindedness, "You're new here?" he asked.
"Yeah, we just moved in," I replied, fiddling with the strap of my bag.
"You seem to really like books, but I haven't seen you here before. So I guessed," he explained. "Name?"
"Bianca James."
He began typing on his computer and after a few more questions I was given my brand new membership card. I smiled as the guy handed me the card and my books, "Thank you.."
"Diego," he supplied.
"Thanks, Diego."
I turned around to leave the library when I heard Diego call out, "Bianca?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you going to Anderson High?" he asked.
"Yes, do you go there too?"
His smile gave me my answer. Diego seemed like a nice guy. He had been really polite during out entire encounter. He didn't seem like one of those cocky boys who thought too highly of themselves and he seemed to be into books as well, since he was here at the library. "See you at school tomorrow, then."
"Yeah," he scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "And hey, get home safe. It's pretty late."
"Sure," I smiled and made my way outside.
Staying home for the past three days with nothing to do other than unpacking - which I had already completed on the first day- was extremely boring. Gabriell met some guys in the neighborhood and had instantly become friends with them. My brother was a charmer. It was very easy for him to meet new people and make friends, whereas I on the other hand, had a hard time finding friends. And even when I did, they'd be just like me.
Quiet.
I had decided to explore the place, so I left home around 3 o' clock and after wandering the streets for about an hour I stumbled across the library. And that was all that I could ask for. I didn't even realize how fast the time had passed and, it was pretty dark outside.
Getting home would take me at least twenty minutes since I was on foot. Mom was so gonna freak out if she didn't find me home, when she got back from work. Both my parents were workaholics. They often got home late, working late after working hours. Though it gave Gabe and me enough time to fool around, sometimes I really wished they could spend some more time with us.
I started walking my way back home. While aimlessly walking in the locality earlier, I had found an alley which connected the library to the park which was just a couple of blocks away from my house. I decided to use that way, since it would get me home earlier.
