Hadley's POV

I groaned looking up at the mansion in front of me, it hadn't changed at all since I left this god forsaken town when I was fifteen to live with my Uncle and study at the most prestigious art school in Miami but someone in the town murdered my Uncle and after months of mourning the man I considered a father figure I was determined to find out who which is why I'd returned to the town I was called home but never really felt at home...Mystic Falls.

I walked up the front steps dragging my suitcases behind me and reached for the door intending to let myself right in with not a care in the world at my step-mothers clear hatred for me as I reminded her of her husband's unfaithfulness but it swung open before I'd even touched the knob and I was staring into the shocked and confused face of my younger half-brother Tyler Lockwood.

"Hadley?"

"Hey Ty" I smiled and he quickly smiled back before wrapping me in a bear hug making me laugh as he picked me up off my feet, I knew he'd triggered the blood curse that ran through our veins even after Mason had warned him but just like Mason that Katherine vampire whore had forced him to do so using the same tricks by compelling someone to anger them and force them to defend themselves. "I didn't think you were ever coming back!"

"To be honest neither did I" I replied as he put me down and grabbed my bags for me as we both walked into the house and nothing on the inside had changed much except that it looked like it was being prepared for some kind of party...my guess was a founders party.

"So how are you, I haven't seen you in nearly five years"

"Not much, been studying...living the sun-tanned life down in Miami" I shrugged with a smile as we walked upstairs to my old room where again nothing had changed.

"We kept it just how you left it" he pointed out and I scoffed.

"More like you kept it just how I left it, I'm sure your mother would have been more than happy to strip any trace of me from this house especially now that our fathers dead"

"Yeah maybe" he laughed and I laughed back nudging his shoulder hauling one of the suitcases onto my bed while he did the same with the other clearly pretending to struggle with it. "What do you have in here bricks?"

"Shut up" I pushed him away and unzipped the suitcase he'd lifted which had all my art stuff inside. "So what's with all the decorations downstairs, another one of your mothers most fanciest founders day parties"

"You guessed it" he smiled making me smile since although I hated this damn place he was the one good thing about it since after all he was my little brother...granted it was half-brother but it never felt like that between me and Tyler despite our parents hating me we'd always been close and kept touch over the years as much as we could.

"So how are you?" I asked changing the subject as I pulled out a photo frame of Mason and I and put it on the bedside table seeing him staring at it before he turned back to me. "How's Caroline?" I asked wiggling my eyes subjectively having known all about him falling for the overzealous blonde barbie.

"Things are good and I'm good" he nodded with a smile.

"Tyler" we both spun seeing Carol Lockwood standing in the doorway. "Hadley, you're here" she pointed out and I fought rolling my eyes at her.

"Yeah I decided it was time to come home and see everyone" I replied as she frowned at me.

"Well your welcome to stay" she suddenly replied covering up the unpleasantness with a smile before walking away.

"Seems like she still can't stand me so...everything's good" I replied and he laughed nudging my shoulder like I had earlier and I laughed pushing him back before we both fell back onto my bed and ended up just talking catching each other up on everything we hadn't told the other over the last five years before he decided to ruin it stating he had football practice and wasn't going to the founders party but still suggested I go to settle myself back into Mystic Falls society so that's how I found myself walking around the grounds and lake of the Lockwood manor greeting people as I went especially those who recognized me.
