RORY - I loved my sister

RORY - I loved my sister. I really did. We were twins and had always been together. Not typically like the TV shows, we weren't exact opposites and to be honest we definitely also did not have twin telepathy or whatever else. Some people even said we weren't proper humans. Well, might have also have been because I had started quite a bit of drama in my life already. Of course, totally my fault.

What? I am honest about being mean. I don't care about most people and I admit it. But my sister was someone I cared about. And so it came to be, that my dear self, a modern day witch, had nothing better to do than crouch behind trash cans to spy at a house opposite of me and try to see something enlightening or otherwise...interesting.

Someone pushed into my back.

"Stop pushing!" I growled.

"It's not my fault. Danny just cannot stay still," Shay whispered.

"I didn't do anything," Danny defended himself.

"You breathe. That's enough to annoy anyone."

"At least I don't stink of arrogant little bit-"

"What are you guys doing?" Before Danny could finish his insult, we all looked up over the trash cans to find Emma standing in front of us.

Emma Greene, half-American, half-Korean, sporting glasses as thick as her pinky finger and the reaction time of a sloth. She once poisoned her literature teacher and let her suffer three days in the hospital before Colin had asked her if she ever thought of giving her the antidote. Another time she had turned her aunt, Moira Greene's beloved potted plants into flesh-eating flora. Half the house was thrashed before Emma told us we had to go there to stop the plants from eating all the furniture on a search for human meat.

It wasn't that Emma was evil or mean or even any kind of cruel. Emma was awfully kind. It was just...she had the memory of a two-year old, the reaction time of a sloth on sleeping pills and the backbone of a gummy bear. Even if she finally remembered something important, she would have forgotten before she managed to open her mouth and tell us.
Gina had her on a strict "we are not cursing, hexing, spelling or otherwise supernaturally influencing diet". And that were her exact words.

I had enough and stood up. "Gina asked me to find out more about the new girl living across from your family."

"Dude, I thought it was a secret," Danny chimed.

"If it was a secret, I would not have brought you guys. Although, you were useless anyway," I retorted.

"Ha, and here I thought I would be nice and even help you. That's what I get for being nice," Shay cursed. I rolled my eyes.

"You weren't trying to be nice. You were trying to see who Gina is so interested in suddenly. So you took the chance since I have to spy on her anyway. You weren't being nice. You were being opportunistic."
