The boy had grey fur down his spine and a long fluffy tail. His eyes were the same dull grey and he looked at Ro through half lidded eyes uncaringly. Ro rushed over to him and checked for signs of wounds. He didn't see anything outwardly and when he felt over the boy's smooth skin and crazy soft pelt he didn't make any noises of pain or discomfort.
Ro took that as a good sign, but the alien still didn't look well. He looked pallid, weak and gaunt like he had been starving and sick. Ro rushed to try and bring him something to eat but when offered any of the food the boy just turned his head away.
Ro started getting increasingly worried about the boy. After hours of worrying over him the boy got increasingly paler, before he faded into unconsciousness. Ro thought he was just sleeping, but then the boy's breath got shallower and his body temperature started dropping.
Ro didn't know much medical knowledge, but he knew enough to see that the boy wasn't just sick anymore. He was dying.
Tears welled in Ro's eyes. All he could do was to try and get help. He went up to the door and pounded on it till his hands were bruised.
"CABBEXEV YOU BASTARD! HE'S DYING... Please..."
Ro waited, but he could hear nothing beyond the door. No help was coming for the strange boy.
Ro had never dealt with death or sickness before. Whenever someone was sick in the dikplo's enclosures they were quickly dealt with by the local doctor to prevent spread and most of the aliens he was roomed with weren't old enough to have problems due to age.
Tears of helplessness finally fell down Ro's cheeks.
He didn't know the boy, but he didn't want him to die.
More than ever Ro felt how weak and powerless he was as he brought the boy back to the room full of blankets and pillows. Ro could barely drag his unconscious body through the door and into the room.
By the time Ro got him inside he felt noticeably cooler and was shivering sporadically. Ro did the only thing he could to try and warm him up which was pull off his sparse garments, lie his body on top of the boy's, and cover them both with blankets.
Ro shed a few more tears as he desperately hoped that some of his body warmth was transferring to the dying boy and eventually exhausted himself into a deep sleep.
...............
Ro awoke to a terrible heat.
He shifted uncomfortably, trying desperately to kick the blankets suffocating him off his body, but his movements were weak and uncoordinated.
When he finally got them off he sat up and noticed two things: he wasn't sweating like he should be when he's this hot and that he was still laying on the sick boy he had pulled into the blanket room. Ro's squirming had woken the boy up and he was now staring confusedly at Ro.
"What are you doing?"
Ro barely heard the scruffy voice of the alien beneath him and had no ability to respond through the spinning his brain was experiencing.
He whined and tried to scramble off of the boy, especially because he was feeling increasingly nauseous. When Ro had finally stumbled off of the boy he immediately threw up the entire contents of his stomach.
The boy got up when he watched Ro hurl. He quickly turned Ro onto his back and started licking all over his neck.
The hot tongue was awful against his flushed skin and Ro started trying to shove the boy's face away from his neck. A ferocious growl ripped from the boy's lips and razor sharp teeth pressed against Ro's throat.
Ro felt the danger acutely and terror cut through his haze.
He hadn't thought of the boy as dangerous because he was so weak and sickly, but now in Ro's frozen state he had plenty of time to realize that the boy hovering above him was larger by a bit, had sharp teeth, intense eyes and strong rippling muscles.
Ro whimpered and bared his neck further as the boy continued to growl. Seeing Ro's submission his growl quieted before sputtering out. He immediately began to lick all over his neck again. This time, however, Ro didn't dare to protest against the strange feeling.
When Ro started to relax a bit after the scare. He noticed that the boy's tongue was hot but, the saliva left behind dried quickly and cooled him off a lot.
He's trying to help me. Ro thought.
Ro relaxed further and let the boy lick all over his neck and chest. As he cooled he was able to think better. He licked his lips and felt the same cooling sensation that the alien boy's saliva left behind.
Ro realized that his own saliva had the same unusual viscosity and high evaporation rate that the boy's saliva had.
Oh. They must have done something to me so that my saliva is cooling like his is.
The boy leaned back and examined him with his beautiful grey eyes. They seemed so cool and piercing, but at the same time... Dead.
Not for the first time, Ro's heart went out to the boy and he felt a surge of compassion towards the alien.
The boy finished his examination and satisfied by whatever he saw he flopped to the side, once again unmoving and dead to the world. Ro sat up and looked over the boy.
He was panting and obviously uncomfortably hot, but he wasn't cooling himself down like he did for Ro.
He saved me, I should at least try and help him.
The memory of his sharp teeth flashed in his mind and Ro paused for a moment, but he pushed aside his hesitance and moved closer.
Once Ro was close enough he hesitantly licked the back of his neck. The boy flinched but made no move to stop him.
Ro lapped more insistently and made sure to spread his saliva all over, but he made sure to avoid the soft downy feathers that ran from the boy's silky hair down his spine to his fluffy tail.
Ro moved to better reach the side of the boy's neck inching closer and closer to the boy's carotid artery and jugular.
Then all of a sudden the boy whipped around and pinned Ro to the ground and started viciously growling.
"Why are you doing this?" The boy growled.
Ro was terrified, but that was overshadowed by his worry for the boy. Tears welled in his eyes and he lifted a hand to the boy's cheek and gently brushed.
The boy seemed even more confused at the gentle touch and his growl stuttered a bit.
"You will get sick too if I don't. You're too hot."
He scoffed.
"It doesn't matter if I get sick, I have no gra I will die anyway."
Ro's breath caught in his throat and his tears spilled over onto his cheeks.
"Please don't die. Please... Please don't." Ro whispered desperately.
The boy's eyes slowly softened. He leaned back and took in the boy below him. His eyes lingered on Ro's plump, rosy lips and his blue eyes still full of tears.
He flopped to the floor.
Ro was deeply confused by the boy's actions but he was still very worried about his health, so once again Ro slowly approached the boy, before starting to lick his neck all over. This time though he let him do whatever he wanted.
The boy's skin cooled and he stopped panting so heavily. Still Ro continued to lick the firm, smooth flesh beneath him.
Eventually, when they were both much cooler, Ro slowly dozed off on top of the other. His body was exhausted after trying desperately to cool itself.
"Maybe I won't die..." the boy said softly.
Salutations!
