Chapter Six

Lindy's POV

When I woke up it was past three. I stayed in bed for about ten minutes, checking my phone for messages. I saw messages from Katelyn. It all read "Wanna hang out" or "Where are you?"

I didn't bother to reply and got off my bed. Then suddenly I remembered that I have a ball to attend to and I was in a horrible state. I took out a towel from my cupboard and went into the bathroom. I had a quick bath and came out. I took out the blue dress that was hanging on the cupboard.

I then took out the make-up supplies where Jack told me it will be. I put on a little of mascara and eye liner. I then took out the blue dress from the bag. It was long and beautiful. It was dark blue and had a small amount of light blue which popped out from the waist. It was strapless and quite easy to wear. 

I put in on and then applied a coat of pink lipstick. When I was done it was around 5:30. I then decided to wait for Jack since he will be coming to escort me to the ball. While waiting I decided to call Katelyn and tell her that I will not be in town for the rest of the summer holidays. I dialled her number and she picked up at the first ring. 

"Linds!! I thought something happened to you! Where have you been and why haven't you texted me back? I have been worried sick! I texted you hundred times and even my mom noticed your absense." I laughed a little and then replied "Woah! Kate take a breathe alright! I know we made plans for the summer but something came up and I had to leave town. Its something personal and I'll tell you once we get back.'

I knew she wanted to protest but kept her mouth shut knowning I will tell her everything. She mumbled a bye and kept the phone. Just as the line went dead there was a knock on the door.

I checked myself one last time and opened it up. There was Jack in a tuxedo waiting for me. His hair was messy but in a perfect way. He kept staring at me which made me quite uncomfortable so I cleared my throat to get his attention. 

"Um..yeah I'm here to take you to the ball room. You ready?" I give a quick nod and followed him through the corridors.

Once we were climbing down the stairs he turned unexpectedly which made me loose my balance. I was about to fall so I clutched his side. We stood there for a while until I let go of his side. My cheek suddenly felt hot. 

When we were about to enter the ball room, he extended his arm. I hesitated at first but then took it. When my hands met his, it was like current passing through my veins. We arrived towards Captain Jim who took me from there and made me sit on a chair next to his. Jack went from there to join another guy.

"Lindy, are you okay?" Captain Jim asked me. I nod and smiled and him. "Yes Captain". He started to laugh and I sat there nervously thinking what I had done wrong. "Dear, you don't have to call me Captain, call me Uncle from now on." 

"Also tomorrow head on to the deck where I will meet you there to discuss all your questions alright? But for now enjoy yourself". 

I looked around the room. It was decorated beautifully. The theme must be purple because everything from the decoration to the table cloths was in different shades of purple.

"Uncle Jim? Did you know that I will be coming to decorate this much?" He looke at me and nodded."Your mother had written in her will that week or before your seventeenth birthday we will tell you the truth about yourself". He didn't go more than that. Even I didn't want to ask him more.

The food was served. It was equally amazing as the party. Then before the party was over, it was announced that Jack will be dancing with me. He came up to me and pulled me towards the dance floor. 

'A thousand Years' started playing. For the first few verses of the song I avoided his eyes and just danced but afterwards it was fine. I must have been blushing because we were just inches away from each other. When the dance was over I headed back to Uncle Jim. He then announced that it was time to head back to our rooms. 

I saw Jack coming towards me but I was pulled away by a woman who took me to my room. She introduced her as Kim. The rest of the way was very quiet. When I returned to my room, I changed and fell asleep immediately.
