Chapter 11

My mother was standing beside me. This whole time I thought that she was dead, and now here she was looking as healthy and fit. Suddenly, I felt my emotions build up, it was a mix of happiness and anger. I didn't know what to do or what to say. I looked at her in shock and she was giving me the same smile I have when I'm about to do something mischievous.

She was wearing a big blue top, which hung loosely on her, along with a pair of jeans and wore casual flip flops. Her hair was the same color as mine but curly. I noticed that I had her light brown eyes and her nose was the same too. Her cheekbones were high like mine too. In better words, we looked the same.

Felt tears fill up my eyes and I was pulled in an embrace by her. There were no words to describe how amazing that hug was. It was warm and inviting and more importantly it felt like home. I felt the love of a mother, I have never felt before. I buried my face and cried. She pulled away, only to place a soft kiss on my cheek.

Suddenly, I started to scream at her. The outburst caught her up by surprise.

"How could you? How could you leave me alone like that? Seventeen years of my life, I thought that my mother was dead and now you show up in my life like nothing happened! Why did you do that! I lived my life with only a father who was away eleven months out of twelve doing business. Why show up now when you could have denied my existence your whole life? Why..?"

"Look, Lindy. I know that what I did was wrong but please let me explain." She reassured me.

I looked at her and shook my head. "No, mother. I don't want to hear anything right now." I walked away and retook my seat next to Tristan. He gave me a questioning look but I ignored him and closed my eyes, falling asleep gradually.

When I woke up, I felt the presence of a person. I opened my eyes to be greeted by the night sky. I looked up saw stars, which danced playfully in the sky. I looked on my lap to find Tristan asleep.

I looked at him and noticed how calm he looked when he was asleep. His hair was flowing due to the wind. His lips were partly opened, letting out breathes very inaudibly.

I looked around to find everyone in the boat asleep, except for one person. He turned around, like he felt me watching. He looked at me and gave me a small smile and headed towards me. He came and occupied the vacant seat next to me.

"Hi! I'm Mason. I am seventeen but turning eighteen next month." He told me, very cheerfully. I nodded and him and said, "Hi to you too. I'm Lindy and I'm seventeen." He nodded to. I turned to him and asked him the question I wanted to ask since Tristan and I got into the boat.

"Mason? Where are we going?" "Do you believe in magic?" He asked me. I shrugged and he continued. "Let's just say, we are going to a magical island. The rest is for you to figure out." I nodded but still confused.

"Lindy? Um, listen. When reach home. There is a place I want to show you. Will you come with me?" I nodded a little hesitantly, but nevertheless gave him a small smile which he returned.

I yawned and drifted back to sleep.

I was woken up by someone shaking me, very hurriedly. I woke up and tried to look up at the person who woke me up. I couldn't recognize the person until he spoke up, "Good, you are awake. Get up we are almost there."

I looked at him and blushed, because standing in front of me was Tristan, who was standing there without a shirt. When he saw my blush, he gave me a smirk and said, "Never seen anyone shirtless before?" I rolled my eyes at him and sat up straight.

I looked around to see most of the crew awake and alert. At the end of the boat I saw my mother and Mason exchanging words very quickly. My mother, who was facing me gave me a small smile and went back to talking with Mason. I looked around to see Tristan who was looking at Mason with a very weird expression on his face.

My mother cut off whatever Mason was saying and came towards me. Tristan got up and left and my mother took his place.

"Lindy, we are about to reach now, but once you enter the island, you cannot leave. I am offering you a choice. You can stay with us forever or you can leave us. I'll give you one week to decide. If you decide to join us, I will be overjoyed but if you want to leave, I'll respect your decision."

I gave her a nod and looked at the small island in the distance. I heaved a sigh and prepared for the change I was about to face.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked at the small but magnificent island, that we were headed towards. From far all you could see was greenery. There was also smoke escaping into the air slowly. In the air I found people gliding. I looked at them in awe.

"That is just for security. No one can ride it unless you are chosen by the queen, in this case your moth-" I turned around to face Tristan who was red in the face. "My mother? She is the queen of this Island? Why didn't you tell me? How could you?" I screamed at Tristan.

"Look, Lindy, I am so sorry. That was not supposed to be told." He said, all embarrassed. Then, suddenly, I started to laugh. Tristan looked at me like I had grown another head. Then, he realized and joined me in laughter. It was amazing to have such a sweet and caring friend. That was what I needed, a friend. Nothing else. No more than a friend.
